Activities at Hunters Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Birds of Prey back at Hunters
A real favourite today at Hunters with the return of Clare and Kelly from Walks With Hawks. The fantastic birds of prey they bring are so popular with our residents and today was no exception. Lots of fun meeting Havoc the European Kestrel, Henry the Barn Owl and Pickle the cheeky Burrowing Owl. Our residents love meeting these fantastic creatures as they walk, hop and fly around them. Clare and Kelly are so informative and love answering any questions our residents may have. Thank you so much Clare and Kelly, you never disappoint
D-Day 80 Celebrations
Yesterday we celebrated the 80th anniversary of D-Day in style at Hunters. The dining room looked incredible as the residents enjoyed live music from the fantastic Danny Rhodes who was singing songs from throughout the decades. Lots of memories shared, smiling faces and even some dancing made it a truly memorable afternoon. It was fantastic to see so many residents together, having fun and reminiscing over their memories of this huge event in British history. We followed the singing with a delicious cream tea and cakes provided by our kitchen team.
Getting Outside, getting some fresh air!
A few pictures from the weekend enjoying the brief spells of sunshine. First a nice casual walk through the grounds with some of our Memory Lane residents. They loved seeing all the beautiful trees and fish ponds. Lots of laughter and reminiscing along the way, raising everyone’s spirits. Then a competitive game of “Molkky” to see who could throw a stick at some other sticks and become our first “Molkky” champion! This has now become a favourite for our residents on the general community, who already can’t wait for the next round of competition. Lots of fun and so great to get outside for some fresh air and sunshine.
Dinky Ponies in the sun
A lovely afternoon in the sun yesterday at Hunters and a visit from the always popular Sarah from Dinky Ponies. She brought along the fantastic Georgie and Charm to meet our residents and tell us all about them. The residents couldn’t wait to get outside to meet them! As an extra treat everyone got to enjoy an ice cream from Joes Whippys which was lovingly organised by our friend Suzanne. Suzanne’s mum Pam was a resident at Hunters and organised the ice cream van to visit us to say thank you to all staff and residents. It was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed. So nice to see so many residents outside enjoying some long-awaited summer sun.
Hawaiian Party
A few photos from last week’s amazing Hawaiian Party here at Hunters. We had live music from the always brilliant Alan Tocknell which meant lots of singing, dancing and of course costumes making it a fantastically fun afternoon for everyone. The poor weather outside did not stop us from getting in the mood for summer. Smiling faces and laughter all around, helped a little by some delicious cocktails.
Afternoon tea wish granted
Another wish granted at Hunters! A little while ago our lovely resident Gwen made a wish that she could share an afternoon tea with her two daughters Janet and Lisa. Well Lisa lives in Australia, but recently came over for a short visit, so we took this opportunity to make Gwen’s wish come true. With the help of our amazing kitchen team we threw a surprise afternoon tea party for the three of them. Gwen was so happy to share this experience with her daughters and couldn’t wait to tuck in! She did not stop smiling the whole time and we could see how much it meant to the whole family.
