Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Musical Magic

Musical Magic

We have been singing along to songs whilst playing instruments! The residents have loved hearing songs they used to listen to when they were younger.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Friston House had a teddy bear themed picnic! Staff and residents had children and their mums visit from the local area. They aid out a picnic blanket with a spread of food such as sandwiches and cakes.

Julie one of the Lifestyle Co-Ordinators dressed up as a teddy bear. The children enjoyed having photos with the bear and the residents loved seeing the teddy, found it very amusing.

Star Performer

Star Performer

We have had our regular visit from our star performer Trevor Osborne. We love having Trevor in the home, as he not only sings to the residents in the communal areas, but also entertains the less mobiles in their bedroom.

Trevor comes into the home at least once a month and the residents absolutely love him. He does a range of songs from a variation of genres and years.

Gardening Club

We love nice weather here at Friston House, it gives us a chance to do some gardening! The residents planted a range of different plants in our plant pots and into our large planting box. We hope to see our flowers fully grown and to have a beautiful garden for the upcoming summer months.

Tea Party for all Volunteers

Tea Party for all Volunteers

On Monday 17th June we held our afternoon tea party, as a thank you to all our volunteers both in and outside the home. The volunteers joined us along with residents at all 3 areas of the home.

We had a spread of food such as sandwiches, cakes and biscuits, prepared by our amazing chef - Abi! Staff and residents had an amazing time.
