Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Christmas Party

Our residents had an amazing time celebrating our Christmas Party! We did some singing and dancing, enjoyed a delicious festive buffet and enjoyed meeting and greeting our lovely elves!

Remembrance Day

Our residents enjoyed making poppies for Remembrance Day during a visit to the local church. The residents chose from a range of colours and cut and stuck the pieces as they pleased.

Intergenerational Playgroup

Our residents enjoyed seeing the children and parents at our monthly intergenerational group activity. The children dressed up in bright colours, along with the activity co-ordinators and the residents had a fun time playing a variety of games with them.

Abba Tribute Night

Abba Tribute Night

Our residents absolutely loved having an ABBA night here at Friston. They all dressed up in feather boas and hats for the occasion. The residents had a laugh whilst singing and dancing along to songs such as Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Waterloo!

The residents read the lyrics from the book and waved their hearts on sticks we’d previously made!

Intergenerational Club

Intergenerational Club

Our residents enjoyed having the local community in for our monthly intergenerational activities. This month’s theme was Toy Story and saw a range of children and their guardians visit us for a chat and play with our residents as well as enjoy an array of cakes, sandwiches and fruit.

Our residents enjoy attending our intergenerational groups on the first Wednesday of every month.

Ball Games

Our residents absolutely love playing catch the ball. They enjoy using the balls as a stress reliever by squeezing them and throw them back and forth.
