Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Life at Friston House Care Home

Mother's Day

For Mother’s Day this year, all our female staff and residents enjoyed receiving a card from us to thank them for being a wonderful mother! The residents were very happy to spend time reminiscing with their fellow residents about the Mothers Days they’ve had in the past!

Aqua Painting

Aquapainting is such fun. Now it’s a white sheet of paper, but when we add water ... just like magic, pictures appear. Here a green car is coming to life, and there is a lady pushing a pram. Such fun!

Wrapping Gifts

Bridie and Pauline were very busy wrapping ‘gifts’ for the fete which had been planned for the first Saturday in April. Those plans are now on hold, however, the residents enjoyed the creative activity.

Sing Along Session

Our residents have thoroughly enjoyed having a game of balloon tennis and participating in a sing song. The residents faces lit up as they heard their old favourites, Max Bygraves, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles. The residents laughed at our two volunteers Pauline and Hannah as they danced along to the music.

The Right Step

Our residents adored seeing the Right Step Dance Company. The company brought pom poms with them and the residents enjoyed dancing with them. The activity got the residents moving and helped to keep them active. The residents laughed at one and other trying to keep up and enjoyed singing along.

Christmas Pantomime Show

Our residents had a great time at our very own Christmas Pantomime show, it was based on the book the Beauty and the Beast and featured four actors/actresses from the Tickled Pink Productions.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing the pantomime, the residents sung along, some even danced along. The residents had a right laugh.
