Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Green Fingers

We were lucky enough to be able to soak up some of the sun in our Phoenix Rise Courtyard.

We decided to do some gardening and pot some beautiful flowers to decorate the garden. Our flowers ranged from a gorgeous sunshine yellow to a bright fluorescent pink!

Of course, we must be careful in this hot weather, so we kitted ourselves up with a hat, sunglasses and some sun cream.

Carers Week

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful carers that work here. Every day, they continue to make us proud by going above and beyond for our residents.

Not only do they ensure every residents' personal needs are met, but they always make sure our residents are left with a smile. This may be something as simple as a chat in the morning over breakfast or putting the radio onto their favourite station.

Something Sweet

You are what you eat, so eat something sweet!

We had fun celebrating Nutrition & Hydration week with some delicious chilled fresh fruit.

Thank you to our Head Chef, Abin, for helping prepare the fruit and also giving our residents the opportunity to try something new: a lemon and cucumber drink, which aids our immune system.

Gardening Club

We had great fun doing some gardening. The sun was out, so we were finally able to get outside for that well-needed Vitamin D!

We enjoyed listening to some music whilst we potted out plants and ensured they had enough soil. The residents promised to keep watering them so we can get optimal results!

Easter Party

This month has started off on a high as we celebrated Easter. Residents designed their own bonnets, took part in arts and crafts and received an Easter egg each. We had great fun listening to music and having a laugh!

St Patrick's Day

Our residents enjoyed celebrating St Paddy’s Day in style. We enjoyed an array of refreshments, traditional Irish music, arts and crafts and even a St Paddy’s-themed quiz! The residents all said they had a great time, many even asking when the next one is.
