Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Book Signing

What a lovely afternoon for our Barbara’s book signing. Barbara’s book ‘Forgive Me For Not Shaking Hands’ is a book that Barbara wrote and self-published about her life, in 1946 Barbara found out she had polio and later developed Parkinson’s. Barbara was unable to attend school as a young child due to her condition which she talks about in her book.

St Lukes Church

The lovely Rev Robin of St Luke’s Church joined us for a small church service, involving some prayers and hymns.
We spoke about loving yourself the way other people love you and how difficult it can sometimes be looking in the mirror and disliking the person you are. Robin made our residents feel loads better about themselves!

Balloon Tennis

We all had such a lovely time playing balloon tennis, everyone had a great big smile on their face. We all had a really good laugh, it also got our residents keeping active in a fun way!

St Patrick's Day

Our residents recently enjoyed a party to celebrate St Patrick's Day, we listened to traditional Irish music, took part in a quiz and even had gammon and potatoes. The residents dressed up in Irish hats and party accessories, and enjoyed the company of the home's Deputy Manager, who joined the fun too.

Toe Tapping and Hand Clapping

We all enjoyed Liam Joseph's performance here at Friston House, taking us back with some good old classics. The lounge was filled with singing, laughter and a lot of applause
