Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Mothering Sunday

On Mothering Sunday all our Ladies received a small bouquet of flowers to celebrate them being a mother.

For those who were mothers it was a celebration of their life before and after having their children but for those who didn’t have children it was a celebration of them and all they’d achieved as a lady.

We then had a lovely sing along with Ceiron Not King Cole who sang some beautiful songs which we loved joining in with!

Singalong with Trevor Osborne

Another wonderful singalong from the lovely Trevor Osborne!

Our residents always love seeing Trevor, he sings all the classics that get us up on our feet. Trevor enjoys doing songs the residents request.

Armchair Exercise with Hannah

We were joined by our lovely Hannah for another wonderful Armchair Exercise Session on Nightingale Walk! We had so much fun and really got our arms and legs moving. Residents were full of smiles and laughs as they danced along to the music.

Entertainment from Liam Joseph

Our residents had so much fun when the wonderful Liam Joseph came and paid us a visit, we got the opportunity to sing, dance and really get into a good mood. Liam sang all the classics that the residents know and love and couldn’t help but make them laugh with his witty sense of humour.

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

Our residents had a very special visit recently. The Meopham Theatre Group came to see us to perform their own version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Residents loved hearing the story unfold and found the children absolutely hilarious! Residents were amazed by how well they’d remembered all of their lines.

Walking in the Sunshine

Our residents have been thoroughly enjoying this bit of sunshine we’ve had. We decided to go for a short walk to our local park for a bit of fresh air and Vitamin D! We are very fortunate to live very near a park so getting out in the fresh air couldn’t be easier.
