Meet our Activities Coordinator, Brenda Wilson

Working here at Friston House is a very rewarding job. Every day is varied, from organising our regular trips out on our specially-adapted minibus, to dancing with residents to Hollywood classics. We provide all kinds of in-house entertainment, including a variety of singers and live performances, a visit from the PAT dog and lots of quizzes and Bingo sessions. Those residents who remain in bed are not excluded and, where possible, we try to make sure they have some sort of stimulating interaction to brighten their day. There is always something to do at Friston House.

Activities at Friston House

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

Friston Olympics

We've been getting ready for this year's olympics by hosting our own version. We made the most of the beautiful weather by heading out and competing against each other in games of ring toss, target mats and tennis! Congratulations to the blue team who took victory. Everyone - even our staff - received a certificate for taking part,

Dementia Awareness Event

Can we start by saying a big thank you to the fire crew who spent the afternoon with us; their community officers joined us to offer support and advice about living with dementia.

We also had two special performances from Anisha & Cameron, who are up & coming young artists.

Then, to really put the cherry on top, a few of us got the chance to get close to a fire truck; we tried on some of their gear and had a blast on the water cannon! What a way to spend to our Friday Afternoon!

All Saints Primary School & Green Fingers!

The lovely year 6 students, from All Saints Primary School, joined us for a spot of gardening! Working as a team, we got the job done! Planting new flowers, rearranging flowers & getting on with some weeding; we can't wait for all our beautiful flowers to bloom, ready for the Summer.

Meanwhile, inside, pupils enjoyed playing snakes & ladders, jenga & dominos, as well as finishing jigsaw puzzles with the brilliant residents.

Everyone had such a great time, and thank you very much to all the staff & students from All Saints for joining us. We are looking forward to your next visit!
