Hi my name is Sandra Verrell and I am the General Manager at Friston house. Welcome to our website.
I have been a Registered Nurse since 1983 and have over 27 years' experience of working in the care home environment, including more than 17 years as General Manager.
I am passionate nurse and a leader who is dedicated to delivering excellent care to our residents through a well-supported, skilled and supported teams. My role as General Manager is to support the team in providing person-centred care and to make sure our residents feel safe and comfortable in their home.
In 2007, I qualified as a nurse, and have had experience in hospitals and care homes since. My NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care enables me to work as a home manager, and I have been the Deputy Manager at Friston House since 2019.; I enjoy socialising, and my one passion is singing; I can often be found singing along with our residents.
Hi, my name is Peter, and I am the Head of Residential here at Friston House. I have been here since 2014, and have been supported to develop both my in-house skills and profession qualifications to NVQ Level 3, and I am now enjoying the opportunity to support like-minded colleagues to develop our environment and person-centred values.
Hi, my name is Ruth, and I am the Head of Memory Lane here at Friston House. I joined Barchester in 2006, and I have been supporting people living with dementia since 2008. I love the team at Friston House and enjoy my work.
I am the Head of Elderly Frail here at Friston House. I graduated as a nurse back in Romania in 2015, and arrived in the UK in the same year, when I started my nursing career.
I joined Friston House in May 2019. I have a passion for caring for the elderly, and that makes my job so interesting and fulfilling. My aim is to ensure that the residents in my care enjoy the highest standard of care and that they are always comfortable and safe.
I have worked at Friston House for almost 25 years. I am an Administration Assistant, assisting with the day-to-day running of the home and have gained an NVQ 2 whilst working here. I enjoy interacting with both staff and residents on a daily basis, and welcoming visitors into the home on arrival.
I have spent much of my career in the education sector. I have experienced possibly every position within a school! Those roles range from being a mid-day Meal Supervisor to a Classroom Mentor to Office Manager and PA to the Executive Principal. I have had some ‘interesting’ days during those years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself!
Hello, my name is Bridie Birrell and I am the Lifestyle Coordinator here at Friston House. I started working at Friston in February 2019. It is my job to ensure residents are getting an enriched lifestyle and ensure we are providing activities that cater to everyone's needs and interests. I make it my duty to get to know residents on a one-to-one basis so I can find activities that they will enjoy and benefit from.
I have worked in care since 2015, and in activities since 2017. I hold a QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and a B Tech Level 3 in Providing Activities in Dementia Care. My hobbies include all crafts, sewing, knitting & crochet, but my passion is art, and my speciality is portraiture.
I am Abin, the head chef here at Friston House. I have enjoyed working as a professional chef over a period of 10 years. I have chosen the care sector and find it to be a very rewarding environment. I am passionate about cooking, with my specialist skill being desserts and pastries.
I’ve spent most of my working life in the building trade. I am a qualified electrician, and I started working at Friston House as the Head of Maintenance in February 2019.
I like a bit of gardening, and have a beautiful fish pond at home. One of my hobbies is photography; I do lots of happy snaps of anything and everything.
I have worked here at Friston House since 2011 as the Senior Housekeeper. My team support me in keeping Friston House spic and span.
