Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Parry & Marion

Another lovely afternoon with the wonderful singers, Parry and Marion! We had such a great time singing along to all the classics and having a little dance. Residents said they had lots of fun.

Snakes in a Care Home

Our wonderful Carer, Tia, brought in her pet snake to see the residents. For many, it was a pleasant experience and they enjoyed stroking and holding him; but for others, looking from afar was preferred! Some of our staff even used him to get over their fear of snakes.

The residents couldn’t believe how soft his skin was and how tame he was being.

Musical Memories

Another lovely afternoon with Karen’s ‘Musical Memories’ class. All the residents got their arms and legs moving to the beat. Karen even provided us with hats for 'Singing in the Rain'. Thank you for coming, Karen.

Wine Tasting

We enjoyed a wine tasting session. It was a live event brought to us by Barchester, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The event involved tasting an array of cheese and biscuits, alongside 4 premium wines: red, white, rosé and prosecco.

The residents said it made a nice change to do something a bit different and enjoy the wine in company of friends.

Welsh Rarebit Day

We had the amazing Parry and Marion performing for us in the garden! We started with some classic tunes then had a short tea break, where we enjoyed traditional Welsh Rarebit, in aid of International Rarebit Day today. Parry then performed some brilliant magic acts, followed by another sing song in the glorious sunshine.

In the Mood for Dancing

Wow, what a performance from the lovely Wolfshead and Vixen Morris Dancers. They were absolutely incredible and the residents loved them. We had so much fun clapping along!
