Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Rodents and Reptiles

We had a lovely visit from our wonderful River's Rodents and Reptiles recently, our residents had so many cuddles and kisses with the beautiful animals.

,

Sunshine and Ice Cream

What’s better than having the sunshine? The sunshine and an ice cream!

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Kelly's Ices, all of our residents across the 3 units got the opportunity to have an ice cream if they wanted to.

We had such a lovely time, some of our residents chose to sit outside in the glorious sunshine whereas others decided to enjoy their ice cream in the comfort of their bedroom.

,

Dementia Cafè

A few of our ladies had so much fun at the Dementia Cafè at St Justus Church, they enjoyed the hymns, making postcards with sand and a few prayers.

,

Armchair Exercise

Residents had a wonderful time on doing Armchair Exercise with our lovely Hannah! A great way to keep us active and still have fun.

Warren Wood Primary School

What a wonderful time we had  with Warren Wood Primary Academy, we all sang the National Anthem together, and had a lovely time chatting about school and what jobs our residents used to have.

Picnic

Residents & staff had a lovely day at the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at Winchester House School. Starting with a delicious picnic where we socialised with members from the local community followed by a colourful parade & display of different countries each tutor group represented through costumes, dance, music & songs. Then everyone gathered together to sing & celebrate the Queen accompanied by the WHS staff band. A truly wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all, thank you to Emma & Everyone at WHS for your hospitality & for making feel very welcome!
