Activities at Challoner House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

St George's Day

We love to celebrate St George's Day and, this year, we had a night out watching a concert. Bev and Paul, who work at Challoner House, also play for the Thornden Community Wind Band, and made us proud! Well done, Bev and Paul, and a massive thank you to Alison, Andrew and Daniel, who kindly assisted us during our trip.

We also celebrated with traditional British drinks and cupcakes. Residents had an amazing time learning how to blend ingredients and, of course, tasting British cocktails.

Open Day

Last Saturday, we opened our doors to the public for our open day. We were entertained by Amanda Parsons and had a visit from the Mayoress of Eastleigh, Maureen Sollitt, and her husband, Mr. Roy Sollitt. We had a lovely time and celebrated the Queen's birthday by having some delicious homemade cupcakes.

Fire Safety in the Home

Fire Safety in the Home

We had a visit from the local fire services. Phil Bradley, who is an experienced firefighter, gave us loads of information about the emergency services, how to keep safe at home and what to do in case of an emergency. We also had the local community and families join us for the talk, which they found. Very helpful and informative!

Magic Show

Residents enjoyed their afternoon with Nick, from Nick Magic! Everyone had a chance to join in during the performance and all shouted the magic word 'Bingo' to help with the tricks. We all had a good laugh during the show.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Celebrations

The rain did not stop us from enjoying Easter; we had a lovely time decorating eggs and hunting for chocolates eggs. It was great to see so many friends and family members around.
