Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Sensory Tasting Session

Residents enjoyed a sensory tasting session to taste a variety of fruit from around the world and to discuss the countries where the fruits were grown.

Smoothie Making

A resident had fun peeling and chopping up fruit to make pineapple and mango smoothies for herself and other residents. They tasted delicious!

, ,

Red Nose Day

Residents and staff had great fun during Red Nose Day, where they started the activities by dressing up and having egg and spoon races.

Everyone had lots of fun!

Bird Treats

A resident had great fun reading up and making bird treats for the garden. Once made and set, we placed the treats near his window so he could enjoy the view.

St David's Day

Residents enjoyed baking Bara Brith and Welsh Cakes in time to celebrate St. David’s Day. We were listening to Welsh music in the background with Welsh flags hanging from the ceilings and daffodils in vases.

Chinese New Year

The residents had a lovely Chinese takeaway evening in recognition of Chinese New Year. The atmosphere was full of laughter and excitement; it almost felt like going out. The smell and the taste of the food was mouth-watering  and delicious. The residents can’ t wait for next month.
