Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Jo & Julie
Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Life at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home
Magic table
Lovely to see residents having fun with the magic table, the images are amazing.
Nativity story
Residents and staff were getting into the Christmas spirit by reading out the Nativity Story and singing the appropriate Christmas carols to go with the story. Well done to the residents taking part.
Festive crafts
Getting creative for Christmas. Residents had a busy time making Christmas cards for their families and friends.
Live Entertainment
The residents had a real good time with the live entertainment by Kelly Hurst. She mainly sang Country and Western songs from Jolene by Dolly Parton to Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver. There was a lot of singing and hand waving, the atmosphere was fantastic.
Christmas Cakes
The making of homemade Christmas cakes brought memories back to residents. The fruit had been soaking in brandy for a few days and when baking the aroma was amazing, especially with the added spices.
Sweet Treats
Residents couldn’t wait to try our homemade waffles for dessert. The smell was amazing and tasted even better with fruit, ice cream and marshmallows.
