I write this after a visit to see my dear friend who joined the centre this month after a spell in hospital and years struggling at home to get the specialised care he needed. From the first moment I was greeted by a pleasant team at reception who were busy decorating for Halloween. I noticed not only how helpful and generous the staff were in general to visitors and to residents, but also how happy the environment was. The way the furniture and refreshment area is stocked felt like a hotel and the environment was clean and bright. When I asked if I could bring a salad in to share with my friend there was no objection and even the physio's (who were on their lunch break) stopped and suggested fetching a special table to fix to my friends wheelchair so he could eat in comfort. As I was leaving a cheerful staff member asked if we wanted to join the karaoke upstairs and although I had to leave, my friend agreed to the challenge and we parted in high spirits. If my friend was not here, getting the expert care that this place offers, his life would be so very different. Thank you to Rachael and all Awel y Mor team for helping change lives for those vulnerable with such health challenges. You've made life feel so much better for my friend.

Very pleased with the care by son receives. Staff very helpful and actively respond to any concerns. Well done to all staff.

I would like to say how happy we were with the care of my father in law whilst at awel y mor, all of the staff were amazing from a lovely greeting at the door to giving us regularly updates, the staff regularly checked if he needed anything even if it was just to reposition pillows anything to make him comfortable, they regularly spent time with him even if it was just a chat to lift his spirits, nothing was ever a problem big or small he had a great relationship with everyone even though he was there a short time, at dinner time he looked forward to choosing one of many meals on the menu and there was always a good variety of foods, I would highly recommend this home as it felt very homely and also the well kept garden was an added extra which my father in law loved to look at during his last weeks of life.

"After a poor experience elsewhere, The nurse in charge of the first floor was very knowledgeable about manual bowel programs for spinal injury patients and made me feel very comfortable being in her care. I would gladly come back."

"I visit one of your residents most weeks and have always felt welcome and thoroughly enjoy the refreshments provided! I have experience of visiting other people in nursing and residential homes and without doubt, Barchester Awel-Y-Mor Care Home is, by far, the best. The indoor and outdoor facilities are most impressive with the gym and physio provisions are, in my opinion, beneficial to the health and well-being (both physical and mental) of residents. I'm also impressed by the variety of activities provided."

"My mother has been in this care home since June 2021. The staff are very kind to her and treat her with respect and dignity. Due to the fact that my mother is almost bedbound and does not like being hoisted and put into a wheelchair as she finds the process painful. Consequently, she does not participate in the in-house activities. The room is light and well-furnished and generally kept clean. The quality of the food that my mother (vegetarian) eats in her room is, in my opinion, poor. Her daily menu consists of breakfast - tea and toast, lunch - a baked potato with a filling and supper - a sandwich. I did, on one occasion, take the baked potato lunch my mother had been served back to reception as it looked as if it was two days old. There is a distinct lack of variety in her diet and little or no fresh fruit."
