Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Barchester Care Awards

On 8th October, we had a wonderful party to celebrate the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. This was held virtually through, from 11am to 4pm.

The residents and staff enjoyed a 3 course meal cooked by our dedicated chefs, followed by Buck's Fizz and Prosecco, while we all waited in anticipation for Louise’s Carer of the Year award. Unfortunately, she didn’t win the main award, but coming as a runner up, we are all so proud of you. Congratulations, Louise!

Tour de France

Residents of Awel-Y-Mor had a great time completing the Tour De France on the therabike down the gym, where they cycled 3057km.

After printing t-shirts, we unite this event with the Macmillan Coffee Morning, giving it a French theme with French cakes, cheeses, rolls and a few bottles of bubbly.

Music was playing, the party atmosphere was amazing, and we all had a good laugh!

Map of the Mobile

A resident had lots of fun reminiscing about places he used to visit.

Abstract Art

A resident had lots of fun exploring different brish techniques with paint.
