Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Joanne Sherwood

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Joanne and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator at Westvale House! I joined the team in December 2023 and absolutely love my role. Getting to spend time with our residents every day and getting to know each of them more and more, is such a privilege.

I get to create and tailor our activities to the preferences of each individual resident, making sure they're all doing things they'll absolutely love, and that brings me and the rest of the team so much joy. Making each of their days special is what I believe my job is all about.

Life at Westvale House Care Home

Residents' home baked Christmas Cookies

We had a lovely day baking home made Christmas Cookies then used our imagination anad creative skills by decorating to decorate our Gingerbread Cookies.

Residents enjoyed spreading over the icing sugar and picking different colours and sprinkles to add to their creations, enjoying classic Christmas songs in the background.

As we were overlooking the garden the conversation soon turned to how pretty everywhere looks when covered in snow but also how cold it was outside

Service with St Philips

Residents at Westvale House have taken Holy Communion.  A service was given by St Philips Church, the residents enjoyed the opportunity of prayer and togetherness. A few Christmas carols were chosen and sung by the residents.

Thank you to St Philips who have been regular visitors to Westvale throughout the year.

Christmas show

Today at Westvale House we welcomed Joe Cockx - Everyone's Favourite Grandson with his Christmas show.  We sang along to Christmas tunes, jingled our bells and and shook our pom poms in time with the music.  A great way to stay warm on a chilly afternoon.

Hobbies & Craft

Residents are encouraged to keep their own interests and hobbies going at Westvale House  as well as joining in with new hobbies with our wide range of life enrichment activities.

Resident Kath a keen knitter and crocheter has already knitted two baby cardigans and has completed a lovely crocheted blanket for staff members who are expecting.

Residents honor the fallen on Remembrance Day

We remembered the fallen on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Everyone’s favourite grandson, popular vocalist Joe Cox performed, singing a medley of war time classics which kept everyone entertained before playing a few tunes on the trumpet.

A great day was had by all remembering those we have lost - Lest we forget.

Happy Bonfire Night

Happy Bonfire night from everyone at Westvale House.

We enjoyed a mini firework display, mulled wine and tasty Homemade Parkin. We welcomed family and friends to join in the fun.
