Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Aimee Dyas

Activities Co-Ordinator

Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Westvale House.

My role is to support Residents well-being, to provide enriching and meaningful activities and promote independence and social engagement.

I joined the team in April 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our Residents and their families.  They have many stories to share and understanding their individual needs enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities program that captures and includes everyone in the home.

Prior to joining Westvale I worked in Forensic Mental Health and prior as a Community Support Worker and feel that along with my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise not only to my role but to contribute to the Barchester whole home approach.

Outside of work, I enjoy regular trips to the cinema with my Fiancée, we adore our six cats and have plenty of cuddles and when time allows we get out and about for long walks.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Westvale House Care Home

Singing with Rob Steele

We had the wonderful Rob Steele in to sing for us, and everyone from our residents to relatives and even staff had an absolute ball!

Rob covered everything from our favourite hits to sea shanties, and every face in the room was plastered with a smile. We all had a dance (complete with maracas!) and sang along to tunes such as That's Life, In My Liverpool Home and Daydream Believer, which had everyone's arms in the air!

Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon Rob, and we can't wait until next time!

Artists at Work

The lovely Yvonne from Creative Mojo Cheshire West & Warrington visited us again, this time to help us put together a wonderful Mad Hatter's Tea Party masterpiece!

It's always a great day when our residents are able to put paint to paper and let out some of their creativity, and they were all so proud of the end product that it's now hanging pride of place in our conservatory! Let's see what we add to the art gallery next...

Thank You Paramedics

At Westvale House, we're so appreciative of the health care professionals that we work alongside and who support us on a daily basis. They work incredibly hard, and work such long hours that sometimes they just need a coffee and a smile to perk them up.

We love to show our appreciation, so we make sure we offer refreshments whenever we get a visit. This week, these happy paramedics left Westvale with a hot coffee in our Barchester travel mugs, and cake to go!

National Ice Cream Day

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

Nailed It

There's always one thing that's guaranteed to bring a smile to some of our ladies and that's a relaxing pamper session.

A pamper session is so much more than having your nails painted, it's a special individual moment. Pampering isn't only reserved for the ladies though, our gents like having their nails cared for too, but so far none have asked for the polish!

Puppy Love

Last week, our Chef Maureen brought her puppy JJ in to visit the residents, and it was the highlight of Jessie's day! She was over the moon to see JJ, play with him and have a snuggle.

All of us at Westvale are now begging Maureen for more regular visits, as JJ is such a beautiful and content little pooch!
