Activities at Westvale House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Aimee Dyas
Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Westvale House.
My role is to support Residents well-being, to provide enriching and meaningful activities and promote independence and social engagement.
I joined the team in April 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our Residents and their families. They have many stories to share and understanding their individual needs enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities program that captures and includes everyone in the home.
Prior to joining Westvale I worked in Forensic Mental Health and prior as a Community Support Worker and feel that along with my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise not only to my role but to contribute to the Barchester whole home approach.
Outside of work, I enjoy regular trips to the cinema with my Fiancée, we adore our six cats and have plenty of cuddles and when time allows we get out and about for long walks.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Westvale House Care Home

National Housekeeping Week
Happy National Housekeeping Week!
We would like to acknowledge and say a big thank you to the wonderful housekeeping staff at our home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of those living here.
As this national celebration ran from 3rd-9th September, during the week, we spent a lot of time reminiscing about how housekeeping has changed during our residents' lifetime. Residents talked about when they first got domestic appliances such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners, and how their lives were changed by advances in technology over the years! We all learned something new.
Our General Manager Jackie also presented our housekeepers with thank you cards and some flowers and chocolates as a token of appreciation for all they do. We're so grateful for our Head of Housekeeping Pam and her team - they're an integral part of our team and we value them all every day!

In the Summertime
We had the most wonderful time celebrating our Summer Fair last weekend, thank you so much to everyone who came to share the day with us! We raised a brilliant amount of money for our Resident's Fund, and made some wonderful memories with family and friends of Westvale. There were also many happy winners with their new goodies, particularly our Edith with her new bear!
Thanks again to everyone who helped plan the day, donated raffle/tombola prizes, and joined in the fun with us we're already planning the next one!

Fitness First
A wonderful session with Rise Warrington this week, which was another great opportunity for our residents' competitive sides to come out and play! We had the music pumping and everyone's energy levels high.
Thank you Chelsea for another wonderful session

Getting Creative
We had another wonderful creative session with Yvonne from Creative Mojo this week! If there's anything our residents love, it's getting their hands dirty with some paint and crafts.
Their artwork is something they can all be proud of! They work together to create some beautiful pieces and we're so lucky we get to display them where everyone can see them.

Virtual Tour of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Miniature Mabel!
We had the most precious visitor recently, when Mabel the Miniature Dachshund came to see us! At Westvale, we absolutely love our furry friends so any opportunity to cuddle a puppy is welcomed with open arms.
All residents got to spend some time with Mabel, and since she's just a pup, Mabel was over the moon with the attention and cuddles, and so excited to see everyone. She was star of the show!
