Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Roald Dahl Day

Earlier this month we celebrated Roald Dahl Day at Westvale House.

Every year on his birthday, the 13th of September people come together to celebrate the magic he brought to, and continues to bring to readers all over the world.

Residents, along with Activities Co-ordinator, Joanne decided that their favourite book was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and so set about transforming our lounge into Willy Wonker land - which of course wouldn't be complete without an Umpa Lumpa - Jo is such a good sport!

We enjoyed sweet treats and each other’s company reminiscing about the talented author.

Did you know Roald Dahl used to be an RAF Fighter Pilot?

Moon Landing Celebrations

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Residents, staff and families celebrated the 1st moon landing.

We decorated our conservatory for the occasion and indulged in themed sweet treats including Mars, Milkyway and Galaxy.

Our lovely Residents doned their alien head boppers with pride as the celebration continued in the garden whilst listening to musical classics like rocket man and fly me to the moon.

The afternoon was truly out of this world.

Annual Summer Fayre

An amazing day was had by all at our Annual Summer Fair.

The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing and the garden was bursting with happy faces from our Residents, family and local community.

Westvale House would like to thank everyone who donated prizes and most importantly their valued time, to make our event a resounding success.

We are pleased to announce that we raised £300 for our nominated charity Warrington Animal Welfare - a cause chosen by our Residents.

Ascot Ladies Day

Our lovely ladies and a few gentlemen had lunch in the garden to celebrate Ascot Ladies Day.

Lunch was prepared by our outstanding hospitality team which consisted of a selection of sandwiches, cupcakes and fresh cream scones and juicy strawberries.

Each of our ladies wore a handmade fascinator in a variety of colours lovingly made by Joanne our Activity Coordinator.

The sun definitely had his hat on as the drinks were flowing and music played and a fabulous time was had by all.

Creative Mojo Art Session

A huge thanks to Yvonne from Creative Mojo Cheshire West & Warrington for another fabulous creative arts session.

We were each tasked with painting different elements, making sure to add our individuality. Yvonne then worked her magic to piece them altogether to create another collaborative masterpiece to display in our conservatory.

This months theme was Mary Poppins, it wasn't a spoon full of sugar but a paintbrush full of paint!

We can't wait to see what next month brings!

Glitz and Glamour

It was worth the wait for us to share with you the winner of last weeks Glamorous Granny competition.

Our classy ladies strutted their stuff as they were cheered on by fellow residents and the winner was chosen by carefully selected judges.

Congratulations to our lovely Doreen who was crowned Miss Westvale 2024.

Doreen says: 'It was such a lovely afternoon, full of laughter and good spirit - I should now like to be known as Her Majesty Queen of Westvale or Queenie for short'.
