Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Aimee Dyas

Activities Co-Ordinator

Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Westvale House.

My role is to support Residents well-being, to provide enriching and meaningful activities and promote independence and social engagement.

I joined the team in April 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our Residents and their families.  They have many stories to share and understanding their individual needs enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities program that captures and includes everyone in the home.

Prior to joining Westvale I worked in Forensic Mental Health and prior as a Community Support Worker and feel that along with my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise not only to my role but to contribute to the Barchester whole home approach.

Outside of work, I enjoy regular trips to the cinema with my Fiancée, we adore our six cats and have plenty of cuddles and when time allows we get out and about for long walks.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A Blooming Good Time

The team at Westvale House thanked our talented and dedicated relatives gardening club by treating them to a spread of afternoon tea.

The room was decorated with florals and a delicious afternoon tea was served on classic fine bone china, kindly donated by one of our generous Residents.  There was a garden themed quiz, music and plenty of laughter.

General Manager, Jackie Bray finished the day by gifting the gardening team with a carefully crafted gift basket.

Everyone at Westvale House would like to say a big THANK YOU for all your hard work.

Warrington Fire Station Visit

To celebrate Emergency Services Day we invited Warrington Red Watch to Westvale House to say thank you for all the amazing work they do.

Emergency Services Day (also known as 999 Day) is a national day across the UK. It is supported by HM The King, HRH The Prince of Wales, the Prime Minister and First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Everyone enjoyed some tea and cake and the crew showcased some of the equipment they carry on the Fire engine.  Residents commented about how much 'gear' the engine carries and how technical it all looks.

The crew gave a demonstration of the Fire kit and also gave out some road safety leaflets for the Residents who go out and about on mobility scooters.

Learning New Skills - First Aid

It’s Never too late to learn a new skill

Recently our eager Residents had a first aid class with Nurse Katie.

Everybody enjoyed practicing bandages and slings on each other as well as learning basic first aid knowhow.

Katie, one of our dedicated nurses at Westvale said: ‘It was great to see so many wanting to learn a new skill and I was impressed with how much knowledge our wonderful Residents already had.’

Roald Dahl Day

Earlier this month we celebrated Roald Dahl Day at Westvale House.

Every year on his birthday, the 13th of September people come together to celebrate the magic he brought to, and continues to bring to readers all over the world.

Residents, along with Activities Co-ordinator, Joanne decided that their favourite book was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and so set about transforming our lounge into Willy Wonker land - which of course wouldn't be complete without an Umpa Lumpa - Jo is such a good sport!

We enjoyed sweet treats and each other’s company reminiscing about the talented author.

Did you know Roald Dahl used to be an RAF Fighter Pilot?

Moon Landing Celebrations

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Residents, staff and families celebrated the 1st moon landing.

We decorated our conservatory for the occasion and indulged in themed sweet treats including Mars, Milkyway and Galaxy.

Our lovely Residents doned their alien head boppers with pride as the celebration continued in the garden whilst listening to musical classics like rocket man and fly me to the moon.

The afternoon was truly out of this world.

Annual Summer Fayre

An amazing day was had by all at our Annual Summer Fair.

The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing and the garden was bursting with happy faces from our Residents, family and local community.

Westvale House would like to thank everyone who donated prizes and most importantly their valued time, to make our event a resounding success.

We are pleased to announce that we raised £300 for our nominated charity Warrington Animal Welfare - a cause chosen by our Residents.
