Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Joanne Sherwood

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Joanne and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator at Westvale House! I joined the team in December 2023 and absolutely love my role. Getting to spend time with our residents every day and getting to know each of them more and more, is such a privilege.

I get to create and tailor our activities to the preferences of each individual resident, making sure they're all doing things they'll absolutely love, and that brings me and the rest of the team so much joy. Making each of their days special is what I believe my job is all about.

Home support charity The Trussell Trust Food Bank

Westvale House Care Home has become a donation and collection point for food and products for The Trussell Trust Food Bank, Warrington.

Westvale House care home is taking a “Whole Home Approach” to the cause inviting residents, their families - during garden visits, employees and the wider communityto kindly donate to the very worthy cause.

Home hosts garden 'Meet the Manager'

Westvale House welcomed local professionals to join them for a garden visit to "Meet the Manager" Charlotte Aspinall as part of the home's community networking & supporting others in the industry.

It was an opportunity for professionals from various care organisations within the community to meet our team, network in the home's garden and take a virtual tour of the home.  Questions about the service and delivery of care were answered by Charlotte.

Charlotte Aspinall, Senior General Manager said "At Westvale House we develop our relationships with others in the wider community which ultimately benefits our residents in many ways.

Hosting a Professional event such as this allows individuals from the care industry to meet and connect with one another whilst  adhering to current social distancing guidelines. It’s a great chance to share experiences of working within the care sector, make new contacts within the community”

Supporting the Ambulance Crew

We thanked Matt & his colleague who brought a new resident to our home in their ambulance.

For their long drive back to Blackpool, on the hottest day of the year, we gave the crew a goodie bag each which included a Barchester refillable water drinking bottle each, filled with fresh cool water.  The team set off nicely hydrated & we look forward to providing refills anytime for the team if they are passing
