Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Helen Hudson

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I’m Helen, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars. I joined the team in 2021 and I have lots of skills that I can use to create an interesting and varied programme of activities, events and celebrations for residents to enjoy. I am a qualified holistic therapist and offer an holistic approach to activities in the home, I love creating new activities that our residents enjoy, taking residents out on day trips and promoting wellbeing through lots of different activities. When I am not at work I love playing my clarinet, crocheting and art - I use all of these in my role.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Clay Modelling

During these cold wintry days, residents have been keeping their minds focused on preparations for Valentine’s Day.

Residents have been busy making clay love heart models and poking a hole through them to hang up as a decorations, some of which have words engraved into to represent the theme of Valentine’s Day. A fun and yet messy activity that they all got their hands stuck in to help.

Activities Pack

Staff at The Cedars have been putting together activity packs for any new residents coming into the home, something for them to entertain themselves with or engage with the team.

Activity ladies have found, when doing activities with individuals, they are a great way to start a conversation and get to know the residents' hobbies & interests, that way we can make sure they are fulfilled, enjoying activities to suit them and their needs.

Christmas Photos

Residents have been capturing the magic of Christmas with our photo booth and props.

Residents have been modelling in our Christmas photo booth, getting snapshots to keep for our scrapbook of memories. Even though these are tough times, we need to remind ourselves of all the fun times we have had. Keeping these memories to look back on to show we got through COVID-19, and it didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves.

Everyone at The Cedars wishes you all a Happy Christmas and a safe New Year!

Christmas Decorations

Residents have been busy at The Cedars making centre pieces for the dining room tables to display through the Christmas period.

Following step-by-step instructions, the residents put these table decorations together. They worked as a team, giving each other guidance and tips.

Everyone enjoyed working on something different, whilst listening to Christmas carols and reminiscing what Christmas was like in their home.

Staff Receive Vaccination

Kristel, our Acting General Manager, at The Cedars is the first in the home to have received the vaccine in Lincoln.

Since having it done, she feels it went okay and is feeling fine following it. She has set a good example for the home and letting us all know it’s going to be okay.

Helping the community

Residents at The Cedars wanted to support our friends in the community.

They decided to make goodie bags for the Butterfeild Centre meals on wheels service. Residents produced some lovely goodie bags to send out to let them know we are all thinking of them during this difficult time.
