Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Enjoying dinner time

Dinner time at The Cedars is always a sociable part of the day. Jo and Anne love to catch up with friends over a delicious home-cooked meal, and have a laugh and a joke with our Chef and dining hosts.

Happy Birthday, Charles!

Charles was delighted to welcome one of the first indoor visitors at The Cedars since the visiting guidance changed. He was over the moon with a visit from a family member who came to wish him a happy birthday and brought a lovely basket full of Charles's favourite treats and cards from family and friends. This visit really did make his day.

A gift from Archie

Eight-year-old Archie from Bourne Abbey School delivered some delicious treats for residents at The Cedars in a random act of kindness. He knows of our home as his Great-grandmother used to live here. The Cedars' residents had a lovely time reading his letter and enjoying all his tasty cakes and biscuits. Thank you so much, Archie!

Peggy has a special visit from her great-niece

Peggy had an emotional and very welcome indoor visit from her great-niece Claire. They both shed tears of joy at seeing each other and holding hands again after so long. Peggy loves chatting to staff at The Cedars, including the Chef whose home cooking she loves, and being able to catch up on family news with Claire was really special for Peggy.

Welcome back to indoor visits

We are delighted to welcome designated family members back to The Cedars for indoor visits. Our first much-anticipated bedroom visit was an emotional and heartwarming occasion as it was Mother's Day when Sue visited her Mum, Doris, in her own room. Sue brought flowers and a teddy for Doris, and said afterwards, "I can't believe this is the first time I have held Mum's hand for a year. I am grateful to the staff for arranging my visit." The Cedars is following strict protocols including Lateral Flow Tests for all indoor visitors and providing PPE to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff and visitors.

Mothering Sunday

At The Cedars in Bourne we spent the whole weekend pampering our lady residents for Mother’s Day. They have had their nails painted, their hair done and enjoyed plenty of chocolates. On Mothering Sunday they each received some daffodils from us as well as gifts, cards and visits from loved ones. Anne liked arranging her flowers and Peggy was over the moon with the handmade cards she received from her twin great-grandchildren.
