Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Creative with flowers and foliage

Residents at Prestbury Beaumont enjoy the homes extensive grounds and their popular flower arranging group activities. Using a variety of beautiful flowers, residents joined a morning session creating their very own personalised flower displays in the home’s lounge.

Getting creative with their flowers and foliage, the residents fashioned a number of striking spectacles, whilst listening to classical music and chatting with one another over tea and biscuits.

Laura, activity coordinator said: “Our flower arranging activity is very popular amongst the residents here, we enjoy catching up over a cup of tea whilst perfecting our arrangements, it really is such fun, and they don’t usually stop talking for the entire time!

Residents enjoy live entertainment

Residents and guests at Prestbury Beaumont enjoyed a day of grins with a live musical performance that took place at the home. Residents took to their feet to enjoy the moment with a little dancing!

General manager, Cath Ritchie, said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the wonderful artist. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at the home as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites.”

Armistice Day

Today we commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent. Our residents joined the rest of the nation in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.

As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two minute silence, our residents took part in therapeutic activities such as listening to old wartime songs and enjoyed the displays created by the homes staff team.

It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought in the World Wars and honour the contribution of everyone involved.

Keeping active with Oomph

Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Prestbury Beaumont.   Residents took advantage of an Oomph live exercise class.

As part of the homes life enrichment programme, we include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

A cut above!

It was a case of a cut above the rest as local barber’s paid a visit to Prestbury Beaumont as the gent’s enjoyed a little pampering as part of their ‘Gentleman’s Club’. The gentlemen were left feeling refreshed and it proved a great hit with the men as grooming isn’t just for the ladies, as everyone wishes to look and feel at their best!

Royal Botanic Garden

Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.

The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.

Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.
