Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

,

Art Club

Here at Prestbury Beaumont, residents enjoyed their ‘Art club’ held in the homes balcony room, which overlooks the homes extensive garden. The outlook was stunning and they drew inspiration from their view.

Many of residents showed their artistic flair, some drew and painted or coloured their own pictures while others chose from the adult colouring pages and enjoyed bringing the pictures to life.

Everyone found the experience therapeutic. We had plenty of refreshments, Lemonade, tea and coffee, as well as a home-made cake.”

Opera performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.

Game, set and match!

It was game, set and match as tennis fever hit Prestbury Beaumont!  We have avid tennis enthusiasts here at the home and everyone took an interest in watching live coverage of the tournament.

Residents came together in the homes light and airy lounge to watch coverage on the big screen and some of our ladies prepared a delicious Eton Mess accompanied by a glass of wine, everyone enjoyed tasting this tasty treat!  A fun-filled afternoon for all.

Pet therapy, Henrik pays a visit

Last week we had a visit from Henrik, a beautiful dog who works for the Charity Pets as Therapy.  Henrik is an Italian Spinone, he is 7 years old, and very big and beautiful.  He is however, a gentle giant and loves to be stroked, patted and cuddled.

Many of our residents had dogs of their own. His presence brought happy memories to dog lovers and lively reactions from residents who don’t always notice things loved to meet him

Dr Tim Howard discusses book

Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.

The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.

Virtual book event

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.

Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Residents across the homes found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.  Book club corner is part of our varied life enrichment programme.  A great time was had by all.
