Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Sensory experience

This week at Prestbury Beaumont, we have had some lovely activity sessions with our Memory Lane Residents.

We have our Sensory Room, with lamps, projectors and fibre optic lights. Our Memory Lane Residents really benefit from tactile objects to hold, these help to focus on preserving and improving their dexterity; as well as being interesting conversation starters!

Home have their cake and eat it!

Excitement is running high at Prestbury Beaumont, Macclesfield where residents and staff have been cooking up a storm to enter parent company Barchester Healthcare’s Easter Cake competition.  Details of the competition were announced earlier this year and the home has been busy coming up with, what they hope, will be a winning design.

The competition is being run by Barchester Healthcare across its 250 care homes and private hospitals so the home has some stiff competition to beat. Pride is at stake as chefs and residents at each of the homes across the country battle it out.  Judging will take place just after Easter and the winning cakes for each of Barchester’s divisions will be announced at the end of April.

Prestbury School Choir Performs for Residents

The children from Prestbury Primary School Choir came to sing to our residents! They have recently performed at the ‘Young Voices’ Concert at the AO Arena in Manchester, they sang beautifully! As a special thank you from all of us at Prestbury Beaumont, we did an Easter Egg hunt in our home’s Gardens and all the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did our residents and staff! We can’t wait to welcome them back!

Nutrition and Hydration Week

This month in support of Nutrition and Hydration Week, our Head Chef prepared a delicious Afternoon Tea!

We had scones, cakes, tea and a healthy fruit platter! We also found out about the origins of Afternoon Tea and had a good reminisce about Mother’s Day past and present. We all had a fantastic afternoon and it was a lovely way to welcome our new residents into our homes community.

Residents go crazy for Crufts

Residents and staff at Barchester’s Prestbury Beaumont care home in Prestbury, Macclesfield are loving the return of the world’s largest dog show, Crufts.  Residents at the home are all keen animal lovers and are delighted to host their own version of Crufts in the Home!

Canine fans at Prestbury Beaumont have had a showing and agility masterclass from their activities team!  They have been learning all about the area of Toy Dog showing and judging of the Chihuahua breed; with the breed standards paperwork shared out, they all had a go at judging and choose their winning dog!

Cath Ritchie General Manager at the home, said: “Our residents all love animals, we have lots of visits from different therapy pets which always cause a great deal of excitement.  This year we have held our own ‘mini Crufts’ with our activities teams own show dogs! It has been great fun and all the dogs were very well behaved!

Historic Royal Palaces

Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
