Activities at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community

Keeping the mind active

Did you know that we encourage and support our residents to retain their interests, hobbies and daily lifestyle preferences to continue pursuing the things they have always enjoyed?  They are also invited to join new activities and make friends along the way.

We have had our Monday Scrabble club and invited new residents along to play!  We had a great afternoon topped off with a cup of tea with a slice of cake!

Creative crafts

Did you know that our activities team creates weekly schedule of activities and life enrichment sessions? These are based on residents’ interests and passions. Our schedule is displayed throughout the home and handed to our residents, so that they can plan their week!

We love organising and planning activities and this week we have prepared an art class. We have a nautical theme on our notice board this month, so we had a go at painting some seaweed!  We also had a news discussion before lunch and sensory sessions for our Memory Lane residents!

Celebrations fit for a King

Excitement is in the air at Prestbury Beaumont in Prestbury, Macclesfield! Where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of head chef Nicky Barnard in preparation for the King’s Coronation on May 6.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King.  Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a Big Afternoon Tea Party! We had musical entertainment from Deborah at Musical Delights, the children from Prestbury Primary School came to celebrate with us. We had fantastic food and drink and a brilliant party atmosphere! The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.

The history of Coronations

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

Home presents cheque to local charity

Prestbury Beaumont care home in Macclesfield, recently presented Macclesfield Seals Disabled Swimming Club with a cheque for five hundred pounds; to purchase much needed equipment for their members.  The swimming club aims to make swimming accessible to all people, whatever age or ability.

The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.

A lovely visit from Henrik

This month we have really enjoyed our Pets as Therapy visit from Henrik and his handler John!

Studies have shown that interaction with animals can be very beneficial. Our residents really enjoy him coming to see them, he is very well behaved and always brings a smile to everyone’s faces!

We can’t wait to welcome him back in May.
