Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Supporting Dementia friendly Yorkshire

Supporting Dementia friendly Yorkshire

Health Education England has funded training for care home staff enabling them to become facilitators in person centered Dementia Care. The training from Bradford School of Dementia studies is an intensive short course that equips the facilitator to deliver training to the workforce. Dementia is one of the biggest health and care challenges we currently face and this is set to increase, therefore it is vital that care staff have the knowledge and skills to support those with this condition.
This work is a collaboration with HEE working across Yorkshire and Humber, Bradford university and Skills for Care and with support from vale of York CCG, City of York Council and North Yorkshire County Council. The successful cohort received their certificate from Kay Ford Regional Clinical Skills Advisor (HEE YH ) and Clare Mason the course trainer.

Lamb petting

Clarrie, a former employee, recently brought in her pet Lamb from her farm. Our residents loved seeing Clarrie and her lamb, Blackie, so much so that they will be visiting again in a few weeks!
