Mount Vale Care Home in Northallerton

Here at Mount Vale, we provide  high quality 24-hour nursing care and residential support, alongside expert care for those living in our dedicated Memory Lane Community. We are proud to be one of the first homes to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10-60-06 Dementia Care programme, reflecting the enhanced quality of dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by those we support. We also offer respite care and short breaks, which can be pre-booked up to a year in advance.

A beautifully restored, former maternity hospital, Mount Vale is located in the scenic Northallerton. It has easy access to both the North Yorkshire Dales, Cleveland and the historic city of York. Our home is also situated close to Thirsk, Ripon, Yarm, Stokesley, Richmond and Bedale, so is well placed for visiting friends and family, who are always welcome.

We believe that you will find we are ideally suited to meet your needs, so why not call in for a cup of tea or coffee and see for yourself? We look forward to seeing you soon.

Types of care

Mount Vale provides person-centred nursing care for those living with dementia in our Memory Lane community, as well as general nursing care for older people on our nursing unit. We understand that each resident has individual needs that we need to tailor our care to, so our services are designed to provide the very best for each of them, based on their personal requirements, and to help them maintain as much independence as possible.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Helen Lewis

General Manager

Welcome to Mount Vale Care Home, my name is Helen and I am the General Manager here.

My nursing career began when I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1983. After 20 years of working for the NHS, I moved into the 'private' sector and commenced a journey into care Home Management. I have worked for a number of well known care providers (including Barchester earlier in my career), before returning to Barchester (at Mount Vale) in December 2015.

Mount Vale is a beautiful home and I have found the care team to be extremely warm and friendly. I hope that if you come to take a look at Mount Vale, you will experience the same positive experience that I did when I first walked into the home.

Carol Christmas

Deputy Manager

My career in nursing began when I was 4 years old, after I read the 'The Nurse' and decided that that was what I was going to do. That dream came true in 1977 when I qualified as an SRN.

My experience as a nurse is varied and long-reaching; I have experience working in both care homes and for the NHS. I have worked as a midwife, with young disabled persons, supported older people, provided palliative care and looked after people living with dementia.

Mount Vale is a lovely home with wonderful staff, and I hope I can support them to excel even further.
