Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Keep on moving!
We enjoy fun games here at Mount Vale such as Balloon Badminton as it’s so fun but more importantly it gets us moving and stretching hence keeping us fitter. Between this and all of our regular Oomph sessions we often enjoy having a relax, a giggle and a glass of wine. As you can see Edith is quite the Joker!.
My name is not Wig
We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!
Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day. All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!
Pancake Day
The first day of March was busy as we marked not only St David’s Fay but also Pancake Day. Pancake Day or Shove Tuesday is the traditional feast day before the Lent on Ash Wednesday.
Our residents had a wonderful day, filled with pancake-inspired activities, they prepared homemade pancakes and decorated them with fresh fruit, berries, syrup and chocolate.
We watched some hilarious pancake races and some of our residents took part in our very own pancake flipping competition.
It was a fun day, enjoyed by all.
Inside Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
Congratulations
We are very proud and pleased to introduce Abi our newly qualified Care Practitioner. Abi has worked very hard for this achievement and will assist our nursing team.
Long Service Award
Our carer Suzanne Cook received recognition for her Long Service Award. Suzanne was delighted to receive her shopping voucher, flowers and pin. This was presented to her by our General manager Helen Lewis.
