Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Elvis visits Mount Vale

Another wonderful afternoon with our favourite entertainer ‘Elvis’ aka Mike! Our residents spent the afternoon rocking and rolling and singing along to all the songs. Not only do our residents get a music show they get fit at the same time!

Great to see so many dancing and having fun.

Mike along with other musical entertainers come here and run alongside our in-house activities schedule.

Flower Arranging

Our lovely ladies on memory lane have been arranging beautiful flowers and herbs from the gardens and grounds here at mount vale. Lavender and mint and lots of fresh blooms made a lovely sensory afternoon and some pretty vases of flowers and obviously a glass of sherry to finish.

We are lucky to have beautiful Gardens and Grounds here and we enjoy walking around and having a look at what flowers and herbs we have grown to pick and arrange.

World Chocolate Day

As it was ‘World Chocolate Day’ we decided to do some blind chocolate tasting. We had a large selection of chocolate from salted caramel to rum and raisin and so many more!
Residents enjoyed the blind tasting which was very interesting and extremely funny, (amazing what you taste when you don’t know what it is!)
We were so busy eating we didn’t manage to take so many pictures, but both floors agreed it was a big hit and good fun!

Walls Ice Cream

National Ice Cream Day

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

A trip to the Local Pub

We took a trip to the local pub. Our Residents John, Elsie, Norma and Brenda all enjoyed a Beer and a good chat. The Sun was shining so we took the chance to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.

Being in such a social environment  and the memories this evoked, the old stories started flowing we all had such a chuckle.

Dogs Trust

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
