Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Baking Club with favourite Be-Ro recipe
Residents love our weekly ‘Baking Club’ and this week the plan was to make some delicious butterfly cakes using the Be-Ro recipe, a much loved cook book we all remembered owning!
We enjoyed taking it in turns to mix it the ingredients and to make it as light and fluffy as possible. We enjoyed sharing stories on our favourite items to bake, and in turn making it into a list for our future baking club bakes.
Our favourite memories were of licking the bowl out – who wouldn’t!

Rosedene Nursery visit with their Olympic torch
We enjoy our visits from our friends at Rosedene Nursery, Northallerton. The children came over to show us their Olympic torch which they had made to show all their values and to bring us all handmade medals they had been making throughout the week using lots of different items and colours.
The children were so excited to show off their hard work and give out medals, telling us what we had won them for. Residents and colleagues were delighted to receive and proudly wore them all day with pride.
We look forward to them visiting again soon.

National Biscuit Day
We celebrated biscuits in the best ways possible! We started off by baking some yummy biscuits as part of our popular weekly ‘Baking Club’, before testing our knowledge with a biscuit themed quiz.
Activities Assistant, Barbara and two wonderful residents took the biscuits around the home for everyone to try including those we had made earlier. Fig rolls seem to be the favourite biscuit choice!
We spent time reminiscing of making biscuits and having one with a cuppa and we can’t wait to do it again next year.

Celebrating Cadbury's
Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.
Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.
It was a heartwarming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!

An afternoon with North East Producers
As part of our Saint Georges day Celebrations we welcomed Ava and Julia from North East Producers, with their travelling theatre show Musical memories.
Residents enjoyed clapping, toe tapping and getting involved with the music and theatre. Many memories were evoked with memories of first dances and moments that each song had fond associations with in the lives of each resident.

Celebrating Earth Day
Residents and staff at Mount Vale Care Home in Northallerton celebrated Earth day with a healthy nature stroll in their beautiful grounds. Residents were delighted to see the new growth of leaves and flowers blooming.
To add to their delight we found a lovely family of rabbits. We spoke about caring for the earth and many residents commented that they used to recycle long before it became “Fashionable”.
People reused brown paper bags, clothing was passed onto others. Memories of “waste not want not”, also meant that the planet was cared for.
