Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

A touch of silver

We had ‘A touch of silver’ visit us here at Mount Vale. They are a Quartet formed from Northallerton Silver Band who have played to us here before. Our Residents enjoyed an afternoon of gentle music from old songs to new. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.

Historic Royal Palaces

Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.

Book Club Corner

Across our services, our residents had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.

The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Pancake Day

Residents and staff had a ‘Flipping’ good time tossing pancakes. Elsie was a natural and enjoyed helping other Residents and Staff.  Everyone really enjoyed getting into the ‘Shrove Tuesday’ tradition and worked up an appetite ready for the fruit, chocolate, syrup and original and best sugar and lemon pancakes our Chef cooked freshly for dessert.

Dancing at Mount Vale

We have lots of singers come into Mount Vale, running alongside our activities schedule and our Residents really look forward to it. Looking at these photograph it’s hard to believe we are a Care Home as we have so many Residents who love getting up to dance and, as usual, one of our Chefs, Dana, always comes out for a little boogie when she can and our Residents love it!

Cheese and Wine Afternoon

Residents here at Mount Vale enjoyed a Cheese and Wine afternoon and although some Residents prefer to stay in their room, they all still enjoyed a tipple! Residents enjoyed chatting about the various cheeses and wines on offer, while Bambi enjoyed the treats!
