Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Beat the Clock
We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.
Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Celebrating Spring in the garden
The days are brightening up and all around our lovely Care Home flowers and new life is stirring. Our residents have been wishing to get out into the grounds, and with the weather conditions a little better, they rugged up warm and did a spot of gardening. We were very lucky to have had two beautiful miniature Apple trees donated to us by our lovely nurse Liza.
What a lovely time we had coming together and planting the trees. So much knowledge about planting was shared from our residents, who spoke fondly of their gardens, working in agricultural based industries and also some ideas of what to do with the apples the tree produces.

Mother's Day
Residents came together for a very special afternoon tea, to celebrate Mothers, mother figures and those who nurture all of creation. We had requests for residents favourite songs and we played them during the Afternoon tea.
Sharing stories of those who nurtured us in many different ways. Residents said they enjoyed coming together and celebrating this special occasion.

St Patrick's Day
We celebrated Saint Patrick's day with good craic, traditional Guinness, lots of dancing and then if that wasn’t enough, we were visited by our own “Jack” from Therapy Dogs nationwide.
“Jack” visited residents dressed in his Irish Bandanna. Visits from “Jack” and other dogs from Therapy Dogs nationwide lifts spirits and stimulates much sharing from residents about their pets. The sensory aspects of stroking therapy pets is much appreciated and adds to wellbeing.

London Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.
Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.
Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Bingo Bonanza
Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as we teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.
Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.
Everyone who participate had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
