Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Garden Games in Glorious Weather

What a glorious weekend! Our residents enjoyed some outdoor games, firm favorites Jenga and Quoits were played whilst chatting in the sunshine.

Pebbles from Burry Port Beach

On one of our recent trips we collected pebbles from Burry Port Beach with the plan that we would decorate these for our gardens. Today the residents painted their designs which will take pride of place out in the court yard.

Thanking Llys-Y-Tywysog Carers

It is Carers Week and Barchester's Llys-Y-Tywysog presented their fabulous carers with a special chocolate treat and card each to thank them for all they do. Carole-Ann paid tribute to the team thanking the staff for their dedication and hard work. The residents agreed and applauded with their thanks. We cannot thank our carers enough for all they do every day.

Big Breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and with good reason when you look at the facts; including boosting energy levels and alertness. Llys-Y-Tywysog's chefs prepare a fresh, healthy home made breakfast daily. Our residents really enjoy the wide range of foods on offer and nutrition is so important. Next week is nutrition and hydration week so there will be activities as well around this.

Competition at Llys-Y-Tywysog!

Things got competitive at Llys-Y-Tywysog today! Some of our ladies made teams and played "Connect 6" this went on for quite some time to decide the winner!

Fun and Games

Residents had great fun today swatting the balloons and chasing the balloons around the room.  All the residents had such a laugh with this game.
