Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Life at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Blooming Haus Floral Display Competition
A group of Llys-Y-Tywysog residents were delighted to spend time creating beautiful floral masterpieces to enter the Blooming Barchester competition in partnership with Blooming Haus following their amazing virtual flower arranging masterclass.
The residents all greatly enjoyed watching the experts and then working on the arrangements applying the tips and ideas learnt during the class to make colourful floral displays. We photographed the arrangements all together for the competition entry, but they are now for all to enjoy around the home.
Chris Sings
Llys-Y-Tywysog were delighted to welcome back Chris to sing and entertain the residents (and the team!). We are all so enjoying the live entertainment returning and residents joined in waving their maracas, we also know Chris was pleased to return, music brings such positivity to us all.
Happy 90th Birthday
Every Birthday is special but how amazing to have two 90th Birthday celebrations in the same month at Llys-Y-Tywysog. It is always lovely to see everyone enjoying these celebrations and we all love that it means another Birthday cake!
Ice Cream on the Coast
Llys-Y-Tywysog residents are becoming regulars at GGs Gelato! Taking full advantage of being able to go out for drives in the minibus this is our favorite place to visit. Not only do the residents get to enjoy the wonderful ice cream, they also can enjoy the scenery on the drive and the coast. We are so fortunate to have the coast so near by.
Impromptu Card Game
We were so pleased we captured this moment of residents enjoying an impromptu card game. The Llys-Y-Tywysog cafe is a great meeting place and it was lovely to see this group sat enjoying themselves.
Apple Pie Day!
Llys-Y-Tywysog celebrated 'Apple Pie Day' today by baking two delicious, mouthwatering, apple pies. We had a trip down memory lane from picking apples in an orchard to grandmother's baking pies. There was a big debate if the pie should be eaten with ice-cream or custard. Llys-Y-Tywysog's Baking classes are beneficial in many ways and always popular.
