Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Sussex Stag Beetle Intiative

On a very warm Saturday morning. Max from Sussex Stag Beetle Initiative attended our home to install a habitat and educate us more on this endangered species. It was a simple installation that we plan to extend with some wild flowers and a little sign for their new home. Everyone who attended was really interested to learn and some are going to head home and build their own.

If you would like some more details about the Sussex Stag Beetle Initiative or would like to learn how to build your own, then you can find some more information on their Facebook page.

Trip to the local vineyard

On a sunny Monday afternoon a group of residents and staff ventured out to our local vineyard where we enjoyed tea, cake and ice cream on the terrace. Many of the residents have visited here before and enjoyed reminiscing other times they had spent here with different groups/clubs and attending different wedding or anniversary celebrations.

Board Games

Board Games

Throughout the day we enjoy spending time in the café area – 2 of our residents particularly enjoy board games so we always ensure something is available.

Brian and his keyboard

Residents, families, staff and friends all got into the spirit with a dance along to Brian and his keyboard. The music and singing was flowing and everyone had a wonderful time!

School Visit

Annan School has made many visits to our home, so they invited us to their school for an afternoon tea. The children have been busy baking lots of delicious cakes and we all enjoyed the entertainment. It was a great afternoon and great to see so many smiles.
