My name is Sarah and I am the Head of Unit on Memory Lane. I started a career in care from the age of 15, working in a kitchen at a local nursing home, providing teas and coffees to the residents. From there, I developed my interest in helping people; I worked in various homes around Crowborough supporting the elderly. My career has taken me to different countries, where I have provided support for all different kinds of people. I spent most of my career working in a psychiatric hospital, providing rehabilitation to men and juveniles with acquired brain injuries and mental health problems. I then began working with the homeless, and it was there that I completed my Level 3 in Health and Social Care and developed my leadership skills.
Following my return to England, I began working with the elderly again, and took on the role of a Senior Care Assistant in a residential home, but felt that I needed to utilize my qualifications and experience to further my career, so after I finished my maternity leave, I came aboard the Barchester ship and am now settling into Memory Lane here at Hurstwood View.
In my spare time, I love being with my family and am a keen musician! I have been playing the drums for a number of years and taught students for a time, also. My claim to fame was being in a semi-professional band in Northern Ireland. We played various gigs, including Party in the Park, and we supported Thin Lizzy and Paul McCartney's Wings!
