Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

National Cream Tea Day

Tea was introduced to the UK in the 17th century by the East India Company but its popularity grew when Catherine de Braganza (daughter of Portuguese King John IV) married Charles II in 1662 and brought the ritual of drinking tea to the English Royal Court.

When and where the cream tea originated though is not cast in stone. Local historians in Tavistock, Devon, believe putting cream and jam on bread began as far back as the 11th century after studying ancient manuscripts leading up to the 900th anniversary of the granting of Tavistock’s Royal Charter by King Henry I in 1105.

Every year on the last Friday in June, British tradition comes alive on National Cream Tea Day & we certainly celebrated in style!
Residents, relatives & members of the local community tucked into our delicious home made scones whilst enjoying live entertainment from Mini Concerts.

A huge thank you to Hugo & Alice Special Events for our beautiful balloons.

Thank you to all that came & we can’t wait to do it all over again.

Supporting our local community is not only a promise we’ve made, but a promise we’ll keep.

To celebrate National Cupcake Day, Home Manager Arvinder & Home Services Advisor Paul, were out & about in our local community expressing their thanks to healthcare professionals for all of their hard work with a box of freshly made cup cakes from our talented kitchen team.

Some of the incredible people we visited today were Bluebird Care Solihull, Home Instead Solihull & Solihull Hospital and Community Services NHS

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO & we hope you enjoyed the cakes!

Keeping The Local Community At The Heart Of Everything We Do

We were delighted to welcome Penny from Alzheimer's Research UK to our home to discuss ways in which we could support the amazing work they do.

We also met with the incredible Kerry from Citizens Advice Solihull Borough CAB to drop off some goodies for the team and chat through some really exciting new ideas - Watch this space!

We then stopped by to meet Gill, the community champion at Tesco, to discuss our upcoming ‘Meet The Manager’ event on Saturday 2nd July.

We’d also like to thank Mandy, who stopped off to kindly donate some beautiful books and CD’s to our family of residents, they really are very much appreciated.

Grow Your Own

When you experience life at Fountains, you are supported to continue life long hobbies and interests, allowing you to continue being the person you are and have always been. Exactly how it should be.

Along with opportunity to build new friendships, bond over shared passions & remaining connected, Fountains is so much more than a care home, it’s a choice of lifestyle.

Here are some of our green fingered residents who were keen to sample some of the strawberries they’d been growing in our beautiful gardens over the last few months.

We can’t wait to tuck into more tasty treats, all home grown and made with love!
