Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

QIGong Comes To Fountains

Here at Fountains, our residents truly do have an input into the way Fountains is run - after all, this is their home, built and shaped around them.

We know that keeping active is important to those that live with us and we’re always looking for new and exciting ways to keep our residents involved, engaged and stimulated.

Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.

In A World Where You Can Be Anything - Be Kind

General Manager Arvinder & Home Services Advisor Paul, have been out & about within the local community delivering ‘Random Acts Of Kindness’ to say thank you to the people of Solihull for all of their hard work.

First stop was to say hello to the team in the  Physiotherapy department at Solihull Hospital and Community Services NHS, then it was off to meet everyone at Marie Curie Hospice, Solihull West Midlands

Arvinder & Paul then stopped off to meet Saima at Aesthetics & Beauty Solihull, before dropping off some goodies for the team at Spire Parkway Hospital.

Lastly, it was a visit to Varrinder & the team at Bidvest Noonan with some thermal mugs as we’d heard just how much they love their tea.

Thank you to all of the amazing teams we met today for the warm welcome and for EVERYTHING you do to ensure our community continues to be a forward thinking place to live & work.

One Family

Fountains recently welcomed back ‘Mr Yummy’s Ice Cream Van’ as a cooling treat for our residents and team.

The famous whippy ice cream sparked many a conversation, reminiscing over childhood memories, favourite holidays and trips to the beach.

Our Home Manager Arvinder, was also on hand to keep Nazir hydrated during his visit with one of our chilled water bottles.
We’d also like to say a HUGE thank you to one of our incredibly thoughtful carers, Louise, who bought all the staff a milkshake during their shift to remind everyone to keep drinking during the heat.

We really are more than a team at Fountains, we’re a family!

Carers Trust Solihull

Supporting our local community is not only a promise we’ve made, but a promise we’ll keep.

With that in mind, Home Services Advisor Paul, welcomed Michelle from Carers Trust Solihull into Fountains Care Home earlier this week to discuss ideas around partnership working and how our home can support carers within Solihull.

The locally based charity provides free help and support for unpaid carers of all ages.

Paul & Michelle discussed ideas that would support those within our local community whilst ensuring Fountains remains enriched with opportunity to keep our residents connected and involved.

Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting news coming very soon!

When Generations Meet

Fountains residents were incredibly thankful for the kind invitation from the year 2 leavers at Woodlands Infant School, inviting them to watch a performance of their leavers assembly today.

During our visit, Flo who recently turned 101 with us, had a very special visit from her great grandson Henry, who is in Year 1 at the school. Henry was so proud to have his Great Grandmother visit and was on hand to recommend the best biscuits.

We were treated to a fantastic performance of ‘Cinderella and Rockerfella’ that was jam packed full of song, dance and some hilariously funny jokes.

CONGRATULATIONS to you all for staging an absolute show stopper and we very much look forward to visiting you all again soon.

Dementia Carers Count

Home Services Advisor Paul met with Claire & Nathan from Dementia Carers Count to discuss some really exciting partnership working.

Dementia carers count is a national charity, offering a range of free service that give carers the opportunity to understand more about Dementia.

Did you know that Fountains has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a homely environment for people living with dementia?

We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.
