Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Community FRI-YAY!

General Manager Arvinder & Home Services Advisor Paul, have been out & about within the local community delivering ‘Random Acts Of Kindness’ to say thank you to the people of Solihull for all of their hard work.

First stop was to say hello to the team at Solihull Fire Station to drop off some goody bags and yummy doughnuts.

We’re looking forward to welcoming the brigade into Fountains in October for a Fire Safety talk for our residents, their loved ones and members of the community.

Then it was off to see our local Police team where we discussed exciting partnership working and how we can support those within our community.

Thank you to all of the amazing teams we met today for the warm welcome and for EVERYTHING you do to ensure our community continues to be a forward thinking place to live & work.

QUEEN ELIZABETH ||

In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we took the time yesterday to commemorate her and pay our tributes to the Royal Family.

The whole home came together to honour the Queen, her extraordinary life and service to the nation and the commonwealth over 70 years of reign, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

In loving memory, we have created our own memorial area with candles and photos of the Queen along with a book of condolences, which continue to be signed by residents, staff and families alike.

We also watched the televised service of the sate funeral that took place in Westminster Abbey, followed by the committal service in St George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

After the official ceremony, we had a discussion about our much loved and respected Queen, her early life and numerous milestones. We all shared our memories of her and reminisced about her extraordinary reign and contribution to our country.

For many of our residents, the Queen represented comfort, hope and peace over the past seven decades of her sovereignty, and she will be sorely missed.

Wellbeing Wednesday

What better way to spend a Wednesday morning than enjoying the ‘fruits of our labor’ and picking the juiciest of our home grown apples to enjoy.

A life at Fountains is an empowered one, encouraging those living with us to live life exactly how they choose to and where they can continue being the people they are and have always been, including continuing with hobbies and interests that really matter.

Anne has always been a keen gardener and enjoys nothing more than being outside keeping a watchful eye over our home grown produce, ensuring only the very best make their way to our kitchen.

As well as taking great pride in her gardens, keeping fit and active is massively important to Anne’s wellbeing and Anne certainly put our caring team through their paces this morning leading an impromptu exercise class in our bistro.

Keeping the people living with us connected to their passions is a promise we make here at Fountains, ensuring an individual's personhood remains strong and upheld.

Ready, Steady, Cook!

Here at Fountains, the opportunity to discover new hobbies and interest are endless, but it’s just as important to continue doing the things you’ve always loved doing too.

The smell of freshly baked cakes filled the corridors of our Memory Lane community today as our keen chefs got to work whisking up some tasty Tuesday treats.

Memory Lane carer Louise said ‘From bringing back those memories to building a positive relationship with food, this is the perfect activity to get those senses going. Baking is a fabulous way of keeping the brain active.'

We love seeing the smiles on our residents faces as our talented trio got right to work with cracking eggs and mixing the perfect cake mix.

There was only one word to describe these cakes ...

Deeeeeeellliccccciouussssss!
