Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Resident creates tapestry for local school

Margaret Botterill, a resident at local care home Fountains in Shirley is a 91 year old lady and Fountains is now her home. Margaret has previous connections with Coventry.

Margaret created a tapestry which took her approximately twelve months to complete.  Although Margaret did not attend Blue Coat school she decided to make a tapestry of the old buildings which still exist today.  Margaret decided to kindly donate the tapestry to Blue Coat School and it is now taking pride of place in Mrs Shelley’s office, Head Teacher at the school. Joel who is hostess at Fountains supported Margaret by communicating with the school and taking over the tapestry.

Lifestyle Enrichment & Activities

Hobbies and interests, remain important at any age. We enjoy being able to create the right environment for our residents to explore different activities to help keep them stimulated.

World Book Day

For world book day we had our pen pals from woodlands school come and join us for the afternoon. The children brought their favourite books. They shared them with our residents who were more than happy to read with them and ask questions. Our residents were pleased to finally meet their pen pals.

Our residents comments about the visit “I was so pleased, and happy to see so many smiling faces”

“it’s good to see children still enjoying a book!”

Flower Arranging

Here we have our lady Jane, who is just passionate about flowers. Jane really enjoys getting involved and being able to make the arrangements for the vases in our communal areas. Jane also helps to identify the flowers, teaching and sharing her knowledge with others.
