Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Creating autumn wreaths

What a successful morning we have had here at fountains care home. This morning our residents, had the chance to get creative using a wide variety of different textured fabrics and materials to create their own autumn wreaths. Our residents, became very engaged when getting busy, digging their way into all of the autumn items/ objects in which they could use. This lead to some fantastic topics of conversations, and plenty of opportunities for all to reminisce about life in autumn.

Harvest festival collection

We have reached out into our community, and made a nice connection with Our lady or the wayside church. We have a resident, Martin, who belongs to the church, sings in their choir and attends regular services. This year, we have been collecting foods for the harvest festival which shall be taking place at the church. Martin has been around to different collection points. Our staff team have been very supportive and the local Tesco’s branch. Gillian the Tesco’s community engagement officer, received our email regarding Martin’s request to help the church help others within the community, they kindly made a donation in which Martin went to collect. Martin and his family have now taken these donations up to our lady of the wayside church.

Mini bus trips

Out and about again in our mini bus, due to popular demands, we made return retail trip Marks and Spencer’s. Here our residents were joined by a family member, and were able to explore the new store at the sears retail park, they had the opportunity to shop until we drop. Our resident’s, were very much intrigued by the new café and how it was now cashless, this bought on good conversations regarding the changes being made in the future.

Baking muffins

Do you know the muffin man…Well We most certainly do. Here we have our residents from Memory lane, having a fun filled afternoon, being engaged with baking. They enjoyed being able to explore the ingredients, this included sharing their own stories on how and what they used to bake at home. Lots of laughter could be heard, great skills demonstrated whilst taking part in this activity. We can say the end result was tasted and defiantly a success.
