Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Resident realises dream

A 100-year old Resident at the Fountains care home,  Hilda Townsend had always wanted to go ice skating, so staff at the home made her wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late. Hilda has lived at the Fountains for over a year and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making her dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to her, and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on face when her dream was realised.

Staff first found out about Hilda’s dream just after the summer and ever since then, they have been dedicated to helping her achieve it. Hilda was also accompanied by friends and staff who were there to witness this momentous occasion.  In response to this wonderful surprise, Hilda, said: “It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream who would of thought at 100 years old, I’d be on the ice!”

Residents at Fountains care home, in Solihull recently enjoyed a carol performance at the home with a visiting group of local Brownies. The event, which took place on Monday 4th December welcomed the group of Brownies aged between 6 - 10 years to perform carols and walk around the festive lights trail at the home.

Our resident’s had so much fun and enjoyed the company of the younger generation. The resident’s then presented the Brownies with a Christmas Chocolate selection box, wishing everyone A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

Pony adventure!

Fountains care home, in Shirley, was full of animal mischief on Thursday when a couple of Shetland ponies came to visit the home. Residents at Fountains care home were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friends – Moomin and Tinkerbell - roaming around their home as Lollipop pony parties paid a visit.

General Manager Kim Dean said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the Shetland ponies here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.  We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”
