Activities at Fountains Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Louise Crooks
Hello I am Louise, my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents. Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events. I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Fountains Care Home
Visit from the local Brownies
On Monday evening we had our local brownies come and visit the home. Residents and the brownies hit it off straight away, they were talking about their experiences and allowing residents to reminisce about happy memories they could recall. The brownies had a great time showing off their badges, and then enjoyed making shortbread biscuits.
Scenic safari
Going out to explore our local area. A group of our lovely ladies went off to explore the beautiful sites of Earlswood lakes. During our journey residents had lots of fun as they were able to see so much, and identifying different animals along the way, creating a farm safari experience. We ensured that we had refreshments, and snacks before heading back home.
Coronation celebrations with family
Excitement was in the air at Fountains care home in Shirley, Solihull where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of the chef and dining team in preparation for the King’s Coronation.
Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King. Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a celebration party with a lovely afternoon tea, along with sparkling refreshments. Residents families joined in the fun during the day too. The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.
Wheelchair ice-skating
Two lady residents, Avril and Margaret from local care home Fountains in Shirley enjoyed a memorable trip today to Planet Ice in Solihull.
Louise Crooks, Activities Coordinator at Fountains care home worked hard to make the residents wish come true to take part in wheelchair ice skating. Louise and Joel who is a hospitality host at the home went on the ice with the residents and pushed their wheelchairs around the ice rink.

Please feel free to come along to our pudding club which takes place the last Sunday of each month. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and enjoy delicious treats
