Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Louise Crooks

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Louise,  my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents.  Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events.  I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.

Together We Are Stronger

WOW - What a HUGE success our first Dementia cafe was.

We were delighted to welcome members of our local community into our beautiful home to see just how the exciting innovations within Fountains can contribute to leading a truly fulfilling life for those living with Dementia.

A BIG THANK YOU to Barchester’s dementia care specialist Deena Heaney MBE, our Dementia friendly barber Leon and our beautician Saima for all all their support.

But don’t worry if you couldn’t make it, we are delighted to be holding our OPEN DAY, this SATURDAY 22nd October from 11am - 4pm.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with our General Manager Arvinder, have a guided tour of our home and meet our caring team who will be on hand to explain our plans on how our home is working towards supporting the whole of Solihull in becoming a more Dementia friendly place to live & work.

Care That's Built Around You

Here at Fountains, we love getting to know YOU, the person you are and have always been.

That’s why when you join our Fountains family, our team are dedicated to finding out what’s important to you, including your hobbies, interests and passions.

With that in mind, when our team found out that Margaret was a keen artist, we couldn’t resist a master class from the lady herself.

Opportunity awaits you here at Fountains, whether that be joining in with lifelong interests, discovering new ones or just catching up with friends – there’s something for everybody to enjoy.

Coffee, Cake & Company

Filled with love & laughter, our Bistro is the perfect meeting place for our residents to catch up, share memories and enjoy all the comforts Fountains has to offer.

Today, conversation flowed whilst our ladies tucked into the delicious homemade chocolate cake, reminiscing about past occupations and how to make the perfect Sunday roast.

Whilst some of our ladies enjoyed the warmth of our cosy Bistro, Anne joined our Activity Coordinator Michelle in our beautiful gardens, hanging up the bird feeders we made earlier in the week.

Opportunity awaits you here at Fountains, whether that be joining in with lifelong interests, discovering new ones or just catching up with friends – there’s something for everybody to enjoy.

Autumn Days Out

As the seasons change and the autumnal weather begins to appear, there’s nothing better than sticking on your woolly hat and cosy coat for a trip out to the local garden centre.

Activities coordinator, Michelle and Memory Lane carer Louise escorted our ladies through a tour of all the beautifully eye catching plants at Notcutts Garden Centres

The group of explorers didn’t come home empty handed, picking up some scrumptious sticky marmalade and stem ginger cake for all to enjoy.

Here at Fountains we are committed to ensuring that our home is a vibrant, loving & forward-thinking place that truly makes a difference to those that live here, allowing new friendships to be built, creating lasting memories for all.

National Dog Day

We’ve had a truly wag-tastic day here at Fountains Care Home as we held our virtual dog show in support of University Hospitals Birmingham Charity and their Pets In Hospitals campaign this year.

Pets In Hospitals is a scheme that is being offered to patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Good Hope Hospital and is supported by the hospital charity. This scheme means that our four legged volunteers can put a smile on staff and patients faces whilst they are working or staying in hospitals.

Residents, loved ones, staff and members of the local community came together to enjoy some doggy themed nibbles as the winners of the Prettiest Pooch, Handsomest Hound, Best Trick and Waggiest Tail were chosen chosen.

So, without further a do - Drum roll please…

The winners are:
