Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Beat The Heat

Here at Fountains, we understand the importance of keeping hydrated and cool in this hot weather.

Research has found that we need to aim to drink 6 – 8 glasses of liquid a day, and even more if it’s hot.

Here are some top tips from Public Health England to consider during the sunny spell:

* Drink plenty of fluids

* Listen to the weather forecast and the news

* Plan ahead to avoid the heat where possible

* Dress appropriately for the weather

* Slow down when it’s hot

* Go indoors or outdoors, which ever is cooler

With that in mind and to ensure everyone was kept cool and hydrated, our wonderful staff team were stocked up with yummy ice creams and delicious ice lollies for our residents.

All Aboard

Did you know Fountains have their very own Mini Bus?!

With the luxury of having our very own transport - trips out and about will be a regular feature within our lifestyle offering.

In fact, residents enjoyed a trip to our friends at Harper Fields Care Home  last week as it was our turn to hand over the Barchester Baton.

A big THANK YOU to everyone at Harper Fields for their hospitality and warm welcome.

World Chocolate Day

World Chocolate Day, sometimes referred to as International Chocolate Day, or just Chocolate Day, is an annual celebration of chocolate, occurring globally on July 7, which some suggest to be the anniversary of the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550.

In honour of the world famous day ‘Fountains Chocolate Fountain’ was in full swing as our residents & team tucked into the chocolatey water fall with their strawberry & marshmallow skewers.

101 Cards For 101 Years

On Monday 4th July we celebrated our amazing Flo turning 101 & just a few weeks ago we reached out to our local community seeking 101 cards for 101 years.

We can now officially announce that we received …

(Drum roll please)

A hugely impressive 156 cards!!

Flo & all the team at Fountains would like to thank EVERYBODY who took the time to send in a card and played a very special part in a very special day!

Flo enjoyed a day of celebration with her nearest & dearest and said ‘Thank you so much for all of this, it’s amazing’

It really goes to show that great things can be achieved when the generosity of kind hearted people & the power of social media unite, proving together we are stronger.

The Barchester Baton

Today we welcomed staff & residents from The Spires Care Home - Barchester Healthcare into our home as we officially took over the Barchester baton ready for our leg of the relay.

Today, new friendships were formed and memories created as we all got to share the opportunity to enjoy some LIVE entertainment whilst having a nibble on some of our famous Fountains scones, lovingly made by our kitchen team.

One of residents from The Spires said ‘Thank you so much for this afternoon, it has been truly fantastic’

Keep your eyes peeled for further updates as Fountains completes their leg of the tour this THURSDAY!

Meet Our Manager

The rain didn’t dampen our spirits here at Fountains Care Home today as we welcomed our local community into our ‘Meet The Manager’ event.

The Pimms was chilled, the home made scones were creamed and the hallways were filled with song as we enjoyed LIVE entertainment from Nick at Mini Concerts.

The day was a huge success and we’d just like to say a big Fountains ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who came along to support us today!

One of our visitors said ‘I have been blown away by the kindness of everyone I have met today. Not only is this a beautiful home, but it’s clearly filled with such kind hearted people too’
