Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Louise Crooks

Hello I am Louise,  my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents.  Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events.  I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.

Duck creations

Fountains residents enjoyed another craft session with the talented Sue Cox.

The creative session took place in Olton Dining area on our Memory Lane Community.

So much fun was had painting these adorable little ducks. There was banter and laughter whilst each resident worked on their own duck design.

It was clear to see personalities coming to life through this creative exercise and the unique way each resident's duck developed.

It's safe to say that our clever residents had all their ducks in a row!

Jigsaw donation

At the weekend Fountains residents were very kindly gifted a variety of jigsaw puzzles by a member of the local community.

Today at our coffee afternoon residents enjoyed a selection of cakes whilst attempting our first 1000 piece puzzle so far they have done a great job and are looking forward to completing some more of the puzzle tomorrow.

Thank you Jean Rigsby for your kind donation.

Creating with clay

Creating with clay is a physical-sensual-mental experience. Thanks to Rachel Akers from Akers of Art, a small group of Fountains' residents thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made some lovely tea light lanterns.

Once they are dried out our residents can enjoy painting them and seeing the finished result.

Activities in Brueton lounge

Brueton communal lounge was the destination for our residents at Fountains this week to come together and enjoy activity.

With 6 communal lounges to choose from across the home, it was Brueton, on our residential community that was put to good use.

Our residents enjoyed an interesting talk on Cliveden”s stories, brought to us on the big screen by Volunteer Guides of The National Trust, which was both fascinating and insightful.

Our weekly sports session was also held in Brueton lounge, delivered by Chloe from EveryoneForSports. This session always gets great attendance and supports our residents with movement and co-ordination. As always it was a fun session that brought out the competitive streak in our residents.

We're all looking forward to the return of the warmer weather when these sessions can be held in our gardens.

"Flipping" winner

Our pancake "flipping" winner received a surprise visit to present her with a prize and certificate.

Vera - a resident at Harper Fields Care Home - Barchester Healthcare was the winner with 30 flips in a row!

Fountains sent over Home Service Advisor Lorraine Shannon to present her with a lemon drizzle cake, made by Fountains Head Chef Colin and a certificate of congratulations.

The surprise visit was just in time for Vera to enjoy a slice of cake with her fellow residents at tea time. She was delighted.

Well done to Vera.
