Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Real Bread Week activity

Fountains residents enjoyed getting busy in the kitchen to celebrate Real Bread Week.

We made a delicious selection of breads from savoury white rolls to seeded brown loaves, and a fruit bread too.

We had a wonderful time sharing baking stories and reminiscing whilst waiting for the dough to rise.

The smell of fresh bread filled the home and had us all excited for the finished result. I think you’ll agree they looked fantastic.

We look forward to celebrating again next year!

World Wildlife Day Talk

To celebrate World Wildlife Day Fountains’ residents enjoyed a talk from our wildlife expert Simon Watts.

Simon gave us a wonderful presentation on English wildlife from the allotments in the West Midlands.

Our residents were fascinated with stories and the variety of species, from foxes to squirrels, owls, bats, and birds too.

It was a fantastic afternoon and we certainly look forward to welcoming Simon again soon.

World Book Day fun

To celebrate World Book Day fountains residents enjoyed reading a selection of children’s stories to be sent to the children at Woodland’s School.

The children sent us a selection of videos to celebrate National storytelling week so we decided to return the kindness.

Our residents loved reading the stories as it reminded them of happy memories reading to their own children.

Fountains care staff enjoyed getting involved in World Book Day too and dressed up as their favourite characters from Harry Potter.

They certainly had our residents smiling.

Residents enjoyed a cosy morning spent reading a book of their choice with a cup of tea. Our book trolley is available for daily reading on all our communities.

We look forward to celebrating World Book Day again next year.

Breakfast networking

What a great way to start the day - a cooked breakfast whilst networking with like-minded local experts.

That's how we started our morning yesterday at Fountains as we hosted LENS networking (Local Expert Networking)ran by Orton Media.

We all enjoyed a very interesting presentation from Ann-Marie of The Wilkes Partnership before finding out each others area of expertise.

Thank you to those that attended and to our kitchen team who came in especially early to ensure the breakfast was ready and delicious.

Congrats to Gail for winning the biz card draw.

St David's Day

Fountains residents enjoyed a Welsh themed dining experience to celebrate St David’s Day today.

Our home was filled with beautiful daffodils

and had everyone excited for spring.

Our wonderful kitchen team prepared a selection of delicious Welsh treats for all to enjoy.

We had Leek Soup to start, Traditional Welsh Cawl Stew for main and a second option of Welsh Onion Cake. For dessert our residents tucked into a Welsh Amber Pudding.

The food went down a treat and everyone enjoyed socialising with friends with a glass of wine too.

Happy St David’s Day to all that celebrated today!
