Activities at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular weekly outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including the local theatre and Cathedral's as well as visits from PAT dogs, visiting zoos, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Pizza & Quiz Night that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Community is fun and active.

Jaime Gilbank

Activities Coordinator Lead

I joined the Chorleywood Beaumont team in 2023 an activities coordinator lead. I  have worked in the care sector for over 9 years and I have been a wellbeing Activities lead for over 2 years.  In this time I continue to build a great knowledge of skills and experience in providing and implementing a variety of activities to cater and support for all needs. Suiting each individual, supporting the mind body and soul.  I am passionate about my role here at Chorleywood Beaumont, providing person centred support and  caring for the wellbeing of everyone. I am a people person and I love putting a smile on our resident’s faces. It is so rewarding and makes me happy.

Life at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Home

Valentine Lunch with friends.

Residents at Chorleywood Beaumont had a wonderful time celebrating Valentines day. There was plenty of chocolate and fizz to be had. We enjoyed entertainment in the lounge and games in the cafe and the Head Chef and his team prepared a delicious Valentines lunch.

Health and wellbeing session with the Tottenham Hotspurs foundation.

Chorleywood Beaumont was delighted to host Adam Millar from The Tottenham Hotspurs foundation discussing Health and Wellbeing and how we can make positive change.

Adam inspired residents and staff to make positive comments to each other - comments as to “how nice you look! “ The day looks to wonderful “ a positive remark will bring a positive reaction. For a emotional well-being.

Then our residents were encouraged to join in some exercises for physical well-being.

We must not forget mental well-being - being with friends, friendly staff, positive family remarks!

Questions were asked what will you do today to make you happy?

Singing, making someone smile, speaking to someone with nice words, sitting with someone who are on there own.

Playing the piano!

A talented bunch at Chorleywood!

Ann a residents at Chorleywood enjoys playing on the piano in out beautiful lounge. Ann said "it’s something she learnt at school at a very young age and she’s never forgotten." “ Chopsticks! “

So proud to know Anne who at 95 knew the original computers in 1945! They filled a room and she would write the algorithmic programming ! Sudoku in comparison is no match says Ann.

Getting ready for spring in the garden.

Its a brand new month and its starting to feel like spring is on the way. Residents went for a lovely stroll around Chorleywood Beaumont's beautiful gardens. We saw some birds and local wild life and the new bulbs planted by the gardening club.

Fresh air and exercise was thirsty work so we headed back for a Sherry and a quiz to finish the afternoon.

Mission Employable

The New Year has commenced with gusto here at Chorleywood Beaumont as the Mission EmployAble interns took on new work challenges at Chorleywood Beaumont and beyond. Tasks such as using more technical equipment and multi-step tasks with reduced need for supervision have been some of the achievements for Aaron, Rory, Krzysztof, Joe, Leo and Conor. Of course this could not be made possible without the sincere support and mentoring of the Chorleywood Beaumont staff.

Rory commented about the learning atmosphere created by the kitchen staff as being "supporting and fun but at the same time, they give me clear feedback about how I am doing which helps me to learn"

Conor also spoke highly of Activities Co-ordinator Helen saying "I always feel like Helen takes the time to show me all the parts of her job, even though at times she is quite busy. I appreciate the effort that she shows me in being my mentor and giving feedback about my work supporting the residents during activities."

Half of the students have now achieved their Level 2 Food Safety Certificates and are making inroads with their Employability as well as Foundational Maths and English Modules. " Our next step is to extend the students in their work experience at Beaumont Chorleywood and begin to provide them other experiences within the local community in order to bolster their understanding of their target jobs.
