Chorleywood Beaumont Care Home in Hertfordshire

Chorleywood Beaumont is a residential care home in Hertfordshire. Our home is set in beautifully landscaped grounds with easy access to the village amenities.

Our services range from luxury apartments for independent living to the main house for first class 24-hour nursing care, respite care and day care. We also offer expert dementia care in our Memory Lane Community.

We have consistently provided high quality care for residents, ensuring that they are safe, that clinical needs are met and that care is as person-centred as possible. Our staff also ensure that we deliver a high standard of hospitality and a varied activities programme to ensure that social care needs are met.

The reason we have achieved high accolades on, with the CQC, and indeed the CCG – scoring a 92.5% rating in our latest CCG inspection – is due to every member of staff benefiting from great leadership and enjoying the place in which they work. The home is a real family and the residents are considered as family members – an ethos that runs all the way through the home.

We have a large proportion of Nurses who have worked in Chorleywood for well over 10 years, and these Nurses are responsible for instilling our values in all staff that we hold dear at Chorleywood, which is that is each and every resident should be treated with respect and dignity.

Wayne Hughes

General Manager

My name is Wayne Hughes and I am the General Manager of Chorleywood Beaumont Care Community.

I have been in the care sector since I finished university and have worked in many varied roles in home care and nursing care. I began work in the caring profession as a domiciliary carer to support me whilst I was in university; I soon discovered that I really enjoyed the work and being able to make people's lives more comfortable and enjoyable gave me a sense of pride.

After leaving university, I was asked to work as a care coordinator in the local home care branch and I rapidly worked my way up the various levels of management and was soon a branch manager of a home care agency. After spending many years managing home care agencies, I felt it was time for a change, and decided to focus on managing residential and nursing homes.

My first posting was at a small 19 bedded residential home in Harrow, where I worked as a deputy manager for the home. I enjoyed the work very much and, once the home's manager was promoted, I became the registered manager of this home at a relatively young age.

Since my first posting in a care home, I have managed a number of establishments in various organisations. I have taken time to cultivate my Continuous Professional Development and, along with mandatory training requirements, I have an NVQ Level 4 in Business Management and a Leadership and Management in Care Level 4.

I have found working at Barchester rewarding and I acknowledge the investment they put into their staff and care homes that ensures the best possible care can be provided.

I am a keen cyclist, breed budgies and currently also have 3 ferrets (Rocky, Flipsy and Squeak).

Please feel free to pop in at any time.

Our care

Chorleywood Beaumont Care community provides high quality, person-centred care for not only residents in the nursing home, but also for those who live in our independant living flats. We have 3 units in the nursing home and are able to support residents who have a variety of individualised needs based on personal requirements. We ensure the care we provide meets all 3 factors of what constitutes high quality care: care that is safe, clinically effective and care that is personalised. Residents in the flats also benefit from the care community and we ensure they are as much a part of the community as everyone else. Our latest CQC report received 'Good' outcomes in all five domains.
