Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Stamford Carnival

Stamford Carnival

It was our fourth year visiting Stamford Carnival; the theme was cartoon characters, so we chose Scooby-Doo. Our maintenance man, Clive, got all of our costumes ready and transformed the minibus into the Mystery Machine! Wendy dressed up as the titular character, Sarah went as Shaggy, Alex as Fred, Bobby as Velma, Julia as Daphne, Sharon as the ghost, Zoe as Dracula, Danni as the Creeper, Clive as Miner 49, Annette as Gypsy Carlotta, Cynthia as a pirate and Hilda as a fisherman! We had a great day and winning 'Best Commercial Float' just made it better.

Going back in time for Care Home Open Day

Going back in time for Care Home Open Day

For Care Home Open Day at Chater Lodge, our theme was the 50s and 60s; we enjoyed 1950s-inspired food, 1960s entertainment and a vintage bag and purse sale. Wendy Kaya (General Manager), Zoe Postgate (Deputy Manager) and Julia Staton (Senior Carer) all dressed up for the occasion.

Gavin Burke Pays Us a Visit

Gavin Burke Pays Us a Visit

We had a very lovely man who came to sing for us at Chater Lodge, which the residents really enjoyed; he was very good at engaging people with dementia and was highly entertaining for everyone.

A Very British Tea Party

A Very British Tea Party

This year at Chater Lodge, we had a royally British tea party in celebration of the Queen's 90th. We spent the morning watching the soldiers march then had Lesley Anne singing for us, which residents thoroughly enjoyed.
