Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Zoolab Returns
Zoolab visited Chater Lodge with an array of weird and wonderful creatures to show us. 106 year old Mary was particularly taken with the corn snake.
Nice & Easy
The wonderful group, 'Nice & Easy', came to perform for us and were amazing. Some of our lovely ladies were serenaded by the rat pack-style singers and we all had a dance with lots of leg kicks to 'New York, New York'.
The Laidback Lizard
Activities Coordinator, Annanel, brought Leonard the bearded dragon into work with her recently. Eileen, who doesn't usually like reptiles, was particularly fond of Leonard because he was very laid-back.
A Grand Day Out
We were invited to Oundle School's 'A Grand Day Out' event. The ladies of Chater made colourful butterflies, beautiful flower arrangements, got their nails done and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea as well as an impromptu dance.
Corn Exchange Theatre
We went on a trip to the Corn Exchange Theatre in Stamford to watch a production of Oklahoma. Diane, Cynthia and Joyce had a lovely afternoon of musical fun.
Horsin' Around
Our second visit to Foxdale Equine Centre was once again enjoyed by three lovely ladies. Veronica, Bet and Doris had a wonderful day with Gitana the huge, but ever so gentle, horse and rescued Dartmoor pony, Fearne. Bet, who has always wanted a horse, got stuck in with grooming.
