Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Peter thinks hard before making his move

Dominoes is a favourite at Chater Lodge with regular games which some people take more seriously than others. Peter studies his tiles carefully before taking his go but it is all good fun. The box is always on the table in the activities room so people can play whenever they like.

Remembrance Day at Chater Lodge

Residents at Chater Lodge in Ketton made lots of poppies and created a beautiful and thoughtful display at our home as part of our Remembrance activities and reflections.

Community Art Exhibition

Chater Lodge held a community art exhibition in the dining room with exhibitions by staff, residents and community members. All the planning and arrangements were made by Matthew Cutforth, our Dining Host and Gardener. George loved being show the paintings by Matthew, who specialises in pencil drawings of African animals and pet portraits.

Sheila is our Resident of the Day

At Chater Lodge every resident gets a special treat once a month. The lucky person can choose whatever they would like to eat and do something that makes them feel really special. Sheila chose to have her hair trimmed and set. We think she looks wonderful!

Enjoy the Chater Lodge Gardens

At Chater Lodge we have been enjoying walks outside to make the most of the late summer sun and admire the changing colours of the leaves.

Art in the sunshine

We are very artistic at Chater Lodge in Ketton - residents and staff. We put our biggest hats on and made the most of some late summer sunshine to practise our craft on our lovely patio.
